The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I have a Modtone Tremor Tremolo that works well. Can't think of anything bad about it.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I got a Joyo british a month or so ago . Sounds fantastic . A bit noisy, but a lot of useable and versatile tones

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

Danelectro Pastrami OD is a great bang-for-the-buck pedal. Lots of harmonics and a good treble boost.

I recently got a Mooer Pure Boost and Boss BD-2 Blues Driver (not super cheap, but pretty darn cheap by swedish standards - the BD-2 costs less than half of an OCD here).
I've also used an EHX Small Clone chorus for a bunch of years. Probably not cheap by US standards either, but paying less for a USA made chorus than I did for the BD-2 is pretty cheap according to me.
Sounds so frikken' awesome too. Can't figure out why someone would need more than one knob on a chorus tbh...

Arizona Tubulator

Remember a couple of years ago when MF sold them as a Deal of the Day?

$10 of :cool3: overdrive.

Mooer for my Money!

I've reviewed (and ended up putting on my pedalboard) the Mooer versions of the EVH Phase 90, Electric Mistress, and OCD... as well as the Pitchbox, whatever that's based on.

They sound GREAT. Not just for the price, but I actually an EVH Phase 90 next to the Mooer version, and despite some obvious differences in knob taper/range, the important tones were 95% there, if not more.

Not a dirt box but the DOD FX17 is cheap and full of win: volume AND wah in a regular sized pedal.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I dont know if it has been mentioned yet, but nothing beats the Danelectro French Toast

I got my used BD-2 for $50 which is average or slightly above, but they're like $90 or something new. It's a fantastic pedal for me because it has a lot of boost and it has a more neutral midrange and bass than things like TS variants.
I sold my les lius and kept the blues driver as I can pretty much play all the same crap on both but the blues driver was lower noise and more versatile in the long run as it's so good at boosting other pedals.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

Also going to jump in and mention the Marshall GV-2 , these can be had for nothing used but they give a fantastic agressive british tone, and the deep knob makes it pretty versatile for getting different flavours

Yeah, I've bought all my pedals new. The Mooer cost me 649 sek, the BD-2 680 sek and the Small Clone for about 650 sek too. Atm, $1 = 6.88 sek.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

The Dano pedals are very cheap and some of them have proven to perform. The trem has already been mentioned, but the Chicken Salad Vibe is my pick for cheap pedals. It's THE cheapest univibe clone out there and it actually sounds great. I've seen a few shootout videos where people compare it to other way more expensive vibe. Unfortunately they aren't very easy to rehouse.

+1 for the MXR Classic OD from GC. They're no longer $40, I'm not sure how easy it'll be to find them for cheap in the future.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

Another vote for the Joyo Sweet Baby! Great sound for $40 including shipping!
Also the Behringer DR400 (Delay and Reverb) @ <$50 and the UT 300 (Tremelo) @ <$25. Great sounds, but a bit flimsy (plastic) construction. Fine if you don't rough handle them.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

Those MXR Overdrives that were a GC Special were hard to beat. Very, very close to a GT-OD or the Wylde OD pedal.

Those big old heavy metal-case Danelectro pedals were great too. I used a Dan-Echo for years... it was my first effect pedal! They went through batteries like a MFer though so I always used a good wall wart with it. It did tend to nick some of your high end but that's what I liked about it. Very smooth.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

Danelectro Cool Cat Drive has really surprised me. The more I use it the more I like it.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

In my opinion, Aceman needs some sorta line selector pedal, you know, an A/B B/A switcher. ;)

While this may be true...

I have noticed that there is no Behringer love here. No love, or no one willing to admit it?

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

Not sure I would call my Mooer flexboost and Reecho cheap @ $88 and $98 respectively, but they are a damned good value for sure.

I had a Bad Monkey, and liked it until I compared it side by side to a good TS Clone, in which case the BM now translated to Bowel Movement. The Hothead is a better and more useful clone (of a DS1), and I like ditmuch bettr than the MXRBA78 I have now.

My brother ha ssome bigass danelectro combo OD/Echo pedal that sounds just like Jeff Beck circa 1970 through his Delta Blues amp. Great pedal.

Those old MIA DOD pedals get a bad rap, but some.of them like the OD, distortion, and.monochorus were nice sounding pedals. Horrible switches.

Yeah, I've got a few. Cheap, cheerful, do the job, and no noisier than anything else out there. The only criticism you could have would be on how robust they my prove to be, but at home, they're just fine.
