The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I have all the Behringer "metal" distortion pedals. I get decent enough sounds out of them. I just use a noisegate plugin after them.

The yellow Danelectro was the Tuna Melt Tremolo. I've owned 2. First was much better than the second and I regretted selling it. Which prompted me to buy the second. Popping while switching and noisy when on and not playing. I started to convert to true bypass then put the project on hold for 2 years.

The mod I did to my DS-1 was Monte Allums Tri-gain Recto mod. Improved the pedal greatly. To the point that I'm trying to figure out if I should incorporate it with my pod HD 300.

I would say that the Behringer ADI21. Acoustic DI with preamp. It just makes my acoustic sound fantastic as it has passive electronics.

I like the Visual sound garagetone series... I've had the Drivetrain (amazing and regret selling it) and a Axle grease delay which is my favorite analog delay for slapback echo...soooo warm and makes my solos jump out. Best part is they have the pure tone visual sound buffer in them too and are made to last

I'll kick it off: If you need a Tube Screamer for whatever reason, try the Ibanez Tonelok TS7. It's a tube screamer to my ears for every practical reason, plus it has a "hot" mode for that little extra gain push.

The TS7 is a great cheap pedal.

I have a small stack of Behringers now, and though I'm sure they're noisier then the prototypes, the robustness of them isn't bad. Plastic fantastic.

Despite this thread's slightly zombie-ish odor, I'll play.

I have Behringer Space C chorus, their clone of the Boss Dimension C. It comes really close for $25. Ordinarily, I won't buy Behringer stuff because of their borderline IP policies, but in this case, Boss doesn't make the DC-2 anymore, and the vintage ones are super-pricey.

Another cheap-but-good pedal I have is my Marshall "Edward the Compressor". I found mine NOS for $40 in an old Mom & Pop music store in Schenectady after seeing this:

Arizona Tubulator

Remember a couple of years ago when MF sold them as a Deal of the Day?

$10 of :cool3: overdrive.

Do you mean the Arion Tubulator?

At $10, I grabbed two. They sound even better with one running into the other. ;)

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I've been enjoying the joyo US Dream pedal. I don't use it into a clean amp as designed though (at least the pedal it's based off of is designed to be run that way-the Suhr Riot). I run it into the green channel of my DSL with a little crunch already on the sound (about noon on the gain knob in crunch mode with single coils). It sounds fantastic this way. It doesn't have the 'pedal into an amp' sound at all. Killer for $36.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

The only "cheap" pedal I have is my Fender pedal tuner. I paid $35 for it new. I don't understand why people pay big money for tuners, they either work or they don't.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

My last couple of cheap pedal scores..

From Thailand ($40)

ebay ($39).. was looking for a cheap DI box but this seemed like a better idea..

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I love my TS7.
& Bad Monkey
& Dano Surf & Turf Compressor (mini)
& Digitech Chorus Factory

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I've got a Guvnor II and it is a great pedal, picked it up used for maybe $70 or so if I remember.

The Mooer Echolizer has worked really well for me, I replaced an EH Echo with it mostly to save space but I like it.

Also have a Dano Cool Cat tremolo that is fantastic and didn't cost me more than $40 new.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I got my Boss BD-2 used for 40 or 50$ many years ago. It's a great little overdrive/boost pedal.

The US made big box EHX small stone is my all-time favorite phaser.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

another cheap pedal full of win....MXR Super comp.. its a dyna comp with an attack knob that you can get for 50 or less used. I got mine for 40 and it totally changed my sound for the better and no I don't play country or funk...

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

Ok - I guess I'm up again. And actually, this thread is great for stocking stuffers for the holidays...

The Behringer Vintage Phase - or whatever it was called
- With custom paint!

Honestly, does a nice job with a classic/modern switch and all. Nothing too extreme, and some nice subtle shadings. For $24, I love it!

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I don't own any cheap pedals. I won't get down on those who do because they need to conserve precious cash recourses, which i understand 100% being in the same predicament, but its against my philosophy. In my personal opinion, a real cheap pedal or a cheap knockoff cannot sound good. Its a matter of well designed engineered circuit layout and component quality.
I'm not saying its totally out of the question though. I have a Coffin pedal that just hits the spot, and it was cheap at the time I bought it, although its out of production and triple its price from when I got it so cheap. Its a pedal John5 used/uses.

EDIT EDIT EDIT-----WAIT WAIT WAIT people!! LOL. I DO have a cheapie pedal that is totally lurved . Its a danelectro Compressor. Totally gets that Nashville Tele thing happening for peanuts!! So there.

Digitech Tone Driver - it has this morph knob that allows you to gradually go between different OD pedal sounds. I like it as well or better than my Fulldrive II. It has more gain available than the FDII. Also, the Danelectro Cool Cat Drive is really nice and versatile.
