The DISTORTION Quest hast Just Began. New focus needs new approaches. HELP Q: P

WITH FULL DISTORTION

F. Hails Railsologist
Hello Guys
How are you!?!!?

COntinuing my UNholy quest for new taste and demand on effects and distortion, this time focus is on DIstortion, instead of delay.

The metalzone doesnt appeal me anymore. I sold it as well as the Line 6 Übermetal.
Metalzone was too dirty for leads, but good for rhythm. Line 6 Übermetal has something similar, but its the amount of Sterileness that bother me. Its like, too much definition in expense to Organicness. ahahahah No way.

Im wondering if theres any manufacturer that produces a distortion pedal that has meaty, tight, deep and crunchy distortion for Metal Rhythm Riffage without sounding sterile or digital. Organic is the word here. Of course it HAS TO HAVE Enough amount of Gain.
But for the lead channel it has to have a sustaining, singing, Warm and open sound. together with a smooth and velvety character to it.

Is there any pedal with two channels or even one pedal that can accomplishes both tasks in one unit ?!?!?!

Thanks in advance and happy new year again

I think this is the part of the day where you start hating me for my Mesa V-Twin, JP. :friday:

Seriously, angelic cleans and evil distortion.. we all know what kind of damage I can do with one of those and a JCM 800. Just imagine what YOU could do... :newangel::firedevil

Hey man.
thanks for the input. i already checked some videos. i found the fullbore metal more or less digital. but never played it.
i also recently sold my metal muff. the highs were totally annoing. and for soloing i found it not warm enough nor fluid nor singing.

RIght now im borrowing a friends CRATE GT15 new generation thats crappy. but my next amp will be an Orange dark terror.

Metal Muff

MXR Fullbore Metal

Switch to a solid state amp.

The Fullbore takes some tweaking BUT it does have some sweet spots. Same with the Metal Muff. Even the Metal Zone has *one* sweet spot. :D

Seriously though, solid state amp. With the right speakers you'll get some crushing distortion. Throw a tube screamer (any of them, even the $30 Chinese copies) in front of it.

Tommy Victor, Dimebag, Chuck Schuldiner, Dino Cazares, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation... solid state amps.

I used a Marshall® Valvestate 100 watt head going through a model 1960A cabinet with Celestion® Vintage 30s in it, and that was killer. For effects, I used a Digitech® Whammy, an old Ibanez® chorus, and I also used a Line 6® Pod Pro for a lot of my effects as well because it has a wide variety of effects that I really like. I used the Pod for all of the clean parts with effects. The dirty stuff was straight Marshall with the chorus and Whammy.

The ones I'd like to personally try are the new Bogner pedals (probably Ecstasy Red and Uber), the new Mesa Throttle box and maybe one of the AMTs. I don't have personal experience experience with them but if I were shopping for a distortion pedal those would be the ones I'd target.

The Bogners aren't as crushing as you'd expect and are pretty pricey. The new Mesa pedals are more towards the overdrive spectrum (and pricey). The AMTs are good pedals, I've tried most of them. The only thing I don't like on the x1 series is that you only get B/M/T controls, sometimes you need a presence or resonance knob for better tweaking, and the x2 series have an extra clean channel which just adds to the price if all you're looking for is metal tones. :D

did you lost your interest on the d activator 7 bridge? DOminus

Re: The DISTORTION Quest hast Just Began. New focus needs new approaches. HELP Q: P

for solid state try a WayHuge Fat Sandwich ! or Green Rhino or get a tube amp and a Tube Screamer

A Landmine Pedal.. (If you can find one...)

Or for an earthy, dark, fat tone..

I've barely got the gain above 4...and it's going straight into the clean channel ...no other effects or anything in the loop.

Re: The DISTORTION Quest hast Just Began. New focus needs new approaches. HELP Q: P

Just get a Rat and be done with it, pretty much as described. If it's too flubby drop a TS in front of it. It's not rocket science.

That Fullbore pedal is about as nasty as they come, I didn't like it at all.

Re: The DISTORTION Quest hast Just Began. New focus needs new approaches. HELP Q: P

Demo an Amptweaker Tight Metal. This is one I'd like to live demo thru my rig just to hear.....Go to their web site. They run around 180bux.

Re: The DISTORTION Quest hast Just Began. New focus needs new approaches. HELP Q: P

I was researching on youtube and came across this user http://www.youtube.com/user/xtimehascomex?feature=watch
that has some AWESOME inside into various pedals. and lots of distoriton pedals and i saw that damnation pedal. its good, but not exactly what im looking fro. ill check if i can find a soundclip of that land mine, and if the ones i may eventually find are good ones or not. ahahahah
Thansk for the input man
But i think ill choose between the WAMPLER Triple wreck or the Mesa boogie Throttle box.

For masive amount of gain a la Peavey 5150 or Recto, the Triple Wreck.
Consider also the cheaper pedals from AMT, it's Californian Sound is a Recto-in-a-box, but they have a better line with their amp-in-a-box pedals (and still very affordable)
