Re: The most metal "looking" guitar?

I think alot of these guitars that say "metal" just seem to have an "attitude" to them. They just look "heavy"...wicked paint, profiles...etc.
You can metalize a telecaster for example but when most look at it they will think of blues or country type sounds not metal.

Pretty fuggin' metal.

Yep! These sound better though. That metal top put's a harsh ZING in those.

Re: The most metal "looking" guitar?

Really though, as much as I do like the pointier Charvel/Jackson guitars, and the occasional ESP or Washburn, I do have to put credit to B.C. Rich for my favorite pointy metal guitars...

The Abel Axe. For when just looking metal isn`t good enough. :D

IMO anyone who pigoenholes a guitar shape to a style of music is really just displaying how closed their own mind is. With the possible exception of the Halford warrior, though that would work just as well for a band that writes Gay-porn-soundtracks :chairfall

Re: The most metal "looking" guitar?

All these pointy guitars scream "poser" to me... great for album covers in a deep dark forest when you and your bandmates finally have your makeup looking perfect.

The heaviest, most relevant bands in heavy music today are using Les Pauls... Kurt from Converge used Rickenbackers and Jazzmasters for years... the dude in Nails uses Teles and Strats...

I say this a lot when talking about guitar stuff... it's not the arrow, it's the indian. We spend way too much time talking about the carved piece of wood when we should be thinking of whether or not we hit the target.

Hey Empty Pockets, what amp(s) does the guitarist use in Nails ?

Re: The most metal "looking" guitar?

If the player matters and the guitar doesn't, what's the point in ripping on someone for playing the "wrong" guitar or a "poser" guitar? I've noticed a lot of people who claim not to care who's playing what… don't really spend less time than the rest of us talking about who's playing what.

Re: The most metal "looking" guitar?

I really want an Ibby RGD to go along with my pointy warlock & virgin. I still cannot afford it...

*crossing fingers* Is still being a poor college student metal?

Re: The most metal "looking" guitar?

I meant to say I think its silly to try and have the most metal looking guitar with tons of points or satanic shot carved into the wood when a good player with the right amp can make anything work.

I don't care how sharp your axe is if you can't swing it...dig?

Re: The most metal "looking" guitar?

I think the strat is the most metal guitar there is. All the best shredders use strats or strat style guitars. You need full access to the upper frets, this can only be achieved by a superior double cutaway....

I don't see lp's as a metal guitar but more country bumpkin chord casters. lol
