There's always a Tele, Strat, or LP thread floating around, and I don't think I've seen an Ibanez one on this forum since I've been here. There are quite a few of you guys out there with them, so let's see 'em!
Feel free to tell us in detail about them - if there's anything special about particular ones; what led you to Ibanez in the first place; why you like them.
So, I'll start.
'86 Proline PL1770.
'85 Roadstar RS525.
Together.
I got into Ibanez partly out of necessity – I was looking to replace my Epiphone Special II and wanted something with HH and a Floyd, and there wasn't much else out there. So I got an RG320 which I had until this year. It was an ok guitar but nothing special. Started looking for a replacement this year – kept hearing good things about MIJ guitars and how they can be good for a good price. I found this assertion to be quite correct: there's loads to guitar to be had for the coin. I was somewhat leery of buying guitars over the intermess but it turned out ok.
I initially thought about moving on from Ibanez during my 'research', but these guitars have convinced me to stick around. Yet, I don't think I'll be going back to RGs - I like the feel of Proline and Roadstar much more. They're quite different from one another, pup configuration not withstanding: the Proline is heavier, more dynamic, has a great clean sound; while the Roastar is tighter/punchier sounding - perfect for rhythm. No nonsense, solid axes that cover a lot of ground together.
Needless to day, I wouldn't mind some more 80s Ibbies in the harem now
