Re: the REAL best shredders...

Had to give the nod to Morse. I would have voted for myself but for some reason I was left off the pole. :)

Re: the REAL best shredders...

ok i voted for Satch he is the Big Daddy for all them.
The question is who the best shredder is, not who is a better musician, a better composer, a better improviser or a better overall guitar player. because shredding not necesarily involves the characteristics just mentioned. is just playing fast and furious...

Re: the REAL best shredders...

Awww thanks for bringing back the dead!
NOT!

LET THIS THREAD DIE! FOR THE LOVE OF SWEET JESUS! LET IT DIE!

Re: the REAL best shredders...

Best musician listed IMO, is Vai, but he's not even a shredder. Sure, his solos get insanely fast at times, but that doesn't make him a shredder.

But the best shredder, I would have to say would be Petrucci. I like his shredding more than any of the others.

HOlY Thread resurrection, Batman!!! I think this one doesn´t want to die :D:D

Re: the REAL best shredders...

I was stuck between JP and Vai... But in the end I went for JP just because of his awesome technique. I prefer Vai to listen to, but for speed JP takes it

Re: the REAL best shredders...

This has to be the greatest thread resurrection in the boards history! Like a Phoenix from the flames etc etc.

PS I didn't mean this is the greatest thread ever, in fact its pretty poor and should really die like the dog it is.

Re: the REAL best shredders...

ULI ROTH..."shred" long before it even had a name "the sails of charon" was what 1977? Though he is not known as a shredder i'd venture to say this is bout as close to shred as you can get and its 7 or 8 years prior to malmsteens first album.

Re: the REAL best shredders...

Everybody seems to be calling Malmsteen an @sshole. Apparently you've all met him personally?
Exactly, man. These people are judging Malmsteen without even knowing him. Hitler wasn't too bad of a guy either.

You STILL forgot George Lynch!
Glad to see Steve Morse was on the list.

George Lynch fits in with the Randy Rhoads and EVH category i'd say.
