Re: The Well 69: ImmortalSix

Good Morning,

Are you in a monogamous relationship with a certain beer company? If so, which beer company and brew? If not, what beer do to buy most often for yourself?

Not really, but I like to buy from AB since my wife is from St. Louis --- M***** is a dirty word in our house.

My default is Bud Light, honestly. I wish I could tell you how I only drink good beer, but I default to good old fashioned Bud Light.

I am however a wine aficionado and I keep a tasting notes journal and everything. I spent more on wine last year than I did on guitar gear. And I bought 2 guitars and an amp.

Do you think that Supernosher's signature is self-indulgent and over-the-top? If so, why?

Yeah, I hate big signatures like that, honestly.

Why, more scrolling time for me, and as an office jockey, the less scroll-wheel-turns for me, the better shape my oncoming CTS is in.

I have avatars and signatures turned off for that reason.

Re: The Well 69: ImmortalSix

I like lists, Hunter. Do you like lists?

Yeah, I find that when I have clear task definition, I function more efficiently.

Lists provide that definition.

I also like linear thought --- Step 1, Step 2, Step 3, as opposed to "Analyze the comms infrastructure for Puerto Rico" --- I like

1) Collect data on comms assets in Puerto Rico (PR)
2) Input data to infrx mapping tool
3) execute infrx homings with PR data

you know, linear thought.

Re: The Well 69: ImmortalSix

Fun Fact: When I went to college, I was a bushy-haired wannabe hippie, I listened to all funk music and canoed and kayaked every weekend --- I was in school to become a Park Ranger.

In my college ID picture, my hair was so big it went out of the frame :laugh2:

Now I'm buzz-cut, 3-piece-suit, Mr. Suburb, working for a large government consulting firm. I gave the canoe to my dad and sold the kayak.

What went wrong?

:D - How could anyone not think so???

@ ImmortalSix - Do you think sosomething's signature is grammatically self-indulgent and over-the-top? If not, is it because you are friends? :9:

Re: The Well 69: ImmortalSix

Do you wish you could live in the wine country of California? Explain.

Re: The Well 69: ImmortalSix

You're the only other person I know who truly appreciates Boys Night Out's "Trainwreck"

1. How did you discover them?

2. How come everybody sucks and doesn't understand how awesome this album is?

I pre-ordered the album before it was released, and cause of that got all of these cool album posters with the album's different characters. Pimp.

Re: The Well 69: ImmortalSix

you really wear a vest every day?

:D

Not every day, honestly. I wear a regular suit most days, and break out the 3-piece suits for client interface or meeting with the internal big dogs --- or just a day that I want to look sharp.

I like short signatures --- the shorter and more informative the better --- he tells me his name and links me to his band's website all in one line --- Now that's a great signature.

I am big on maximizing content delivery for a given space. That is why almost every picture I post contains a link to a relevant source of supporting information, or I insert links in conversational text. More information per character. I am an engineer at heart, so shoehorning the maximum into the minimun is the name of the game.

But again, I have avatars and sigs turned off so when my colleagues walk by as I'm waiting on my slow headless computer to run a process for me, they don't see pictures of girls and bright colors and say "What is he looking at?!"

I am so glad you do too, man --- you really are the only other person I've ever heard of who "got it."

I was at a bar in Midlothian, VA called "Bailey's" grabbing a drink, and they had something like "BarTV" on, and "Medicating" came on, and you know that intro is just so smooth and crystal --- so captivating --- 3 seconds of that intro and I was like "WHAT IS THAT?!"

I payed close attention, and the sound got better and better, the songwriting was awesome, the performance was awesome, then they have that kind of electronic breakdown in the middle, it was just a complete grand-slam with me. I loved it.

2) People don't have the attention span, or the appreciation of art, to listen to a whole album, cover to cover. "Trainwreck" is definitely a cover to cover album --- you can't get the full effect, or the momentum of the plot, the buildup, the tension and release, unless you start at the top and listen to the whole thing.

It's an "entertain me now" society, and most folks don't want to wait for the buildup, the denouement, they want to be entertained right now, instantly.

This is much like sugar vs carbohydrates --- if you eat a sugar packet, you get energy now, but it's cheap; low quality, temporary. If you eat a bowl of pasta, you don't get that immediate bump, but what you get is more valuable, longer lasting, far more satisfying.

This is a real hot issue with me, the dumb-ification of modern society --- the instant gratification culture is killing art.

My best friend Dan doesn't think "The Blues Brothers" is funny, even. You know who he thinks is funny? Dane Cook.

Boys Night Out's "Trainwreck"

I'm glad I read this well. Medication is great! Very chill, fun, artistic. I can't think of another song that the guitarist uses tapping/hammer-on's/pull-off's for most of the verse. COOOOL.

Do you wish you could live in the wine country of California? Explain.

Yes, absolutely --- Mediterranean climate, population density is low, food and wine will be good for sure.

I would move there if I could find a career

Re: The Well 69: ImmortalSix

Do you still love your squire'51?

Absolutely --- with the Mean 90 in the bridge I can do the Tele thing all day, with the Little '59 I can play my jazzy stuff, it's neck is fat and perfect, snappy maple fretboard, great frets now that I've worked on them a bit, it just sounds great, and is fun to play.

It's got a Strat body, which is the best body shape for me, it's just perfect.

It's got a Tele neck, which again is just right.

I gigged it 2 nights this weekend playing bluegrass and folk music --- it's great and people are always asking, "What in the hell is that?!"

If you were "Jefferson" in The Dirty Dozen, knowing what was going to happen to you, would you do anything different?

Re: The Well 69: ImmortalSix

If I decided to restore something, well time-out --- I would never restore a car. Those guys make me sick, they are bat-**** crazy --- finding vinyl for their door panels from the correct factory location from the correct month, stuff like that. I like for cars to function well, and most of the cars from the 50s, 60s, and 70s were less functional than I'll accept. We've upgraded lots of little stuff on our '76 --- shoulder harness seatbelts, modified the transmission shifter for better function, larger tires for a higher highway speed with lower RPM, stuff like that. Restoration, true restoration is just not for me. A lot of people think that what Dad and I do with cars is restoration, and it really, truly couldn't be farther from it. [/rant]

:clap::clap::clap::clap:

Your stereotypical car dude drive me crazy. There is a reason that cars aren't made like they used to be, its called improvements. People who are insane about NOS and stock equipment make me want to barf. Old cars look cool, but everything under the sheet metal is fair to go, IMO.

I would make He Is Legend follow up "I Am Hollywood" with a proper "He Is Legend" album --- as soon as I heard their follow-up "Suck Out the Poison," my buddy and I looked at each other and said "They either had 1) a lineup change or 2) a label change." Sure as the sunrise, they had a label change. Their "I Am Hollywood" album was so incredible, and they really fell flat after that. I wouldn't play, I would just do the production.

:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

Though I will admit, SOTP did grow on me and there are some pretty rockin' tunes on it. But I Am Hollywood was epic.

On to the questions...

The Hammers or the Rubicon?

How do you feel about truggy rock crawlers? Cool or do they take out some of the red-neckery, DIY, and/or skill involved with a truck?

Favorite fast food restaurant? You have to pick one.

Favorite style of cuisine?

Dumbest car and truck currently being sold? No, the Subaru Baja does not count as fitting both categories concurrently.

Dumbest guitar currently being sold?
