Life takes a harsh left and after a long night you end up in the drunk tank.

What were you drinking to land yourself there?

Re: The Well Part XXIV: Les Is More: Maniacal Musings of LesStrat

resubmission;
1)Happen to know what percentage of LaFayette is still of French-Canadian descent?
2)How has Lafayette changed since youve lived there?
3) How many times have you been to Mardi Gras?
4) How much do you get into New Orleans?
5) Do you like Cajun Zydeco Music?

 Sorry, jer, I neglected to answer them all.

1. see previous post
2. Massive growth. I don't live in Laffy, though. I'm south in New Iberia.
3. Too many.
4. Occasionally. I've been a couple of times per year for the last 3 years. NOLA is for tourists. I go to professional meetings when necessary. Crime is skyrocketing there, yet the media manage to not include them in the nat'l stats for some reason (since H. Katrina). Besides, the food is better here.
5. Not particularly. I appreciate it for what it is. BTW, the two are not inclusive. Both can be quite repetitive. Both use annoying instrumentation. That said, it can be quite uplifting and joyful music.

What exactly is a toot-toot, and why should it not be messed with?

Do you know what 'it' means to Miss New Orleans? Is she any relation to Lady Marmalade?

What's the sweetest gig you've ever had, by whatever criteria you choose?

Why is your part of the universe the culinary center? Is it a cherry center, is it rich and creamy, or does it have coconut and almonds?

Re: The Well Part XXIV: Les Is More: Maniacal Musings of LesStrat

Is the handicapped sign in the pic intentional? :D

What's your opinion on snakes, jazz, the tv show Lost, the movies Fistful of Dollars and Young Guns, Greek-style pizza, duct tape, clear packing tape, Windows requiring administrator permission to run defrag, and mp3 players?

Mà chere tout-tout, or sweetheart. Others have assigned different meanings to it.

She's really my Yvonne. She's the sweetest one, you know.

My favorites have very little to do with playing, and everything to do with divine presence.

'Cause everything outside of Acadiana is just leftovers.

My wife told me that there are 50 lbs to which she's not legally married.

Hey Stephen!

What was your most embarrasing moment?

What is your favourite dessert?

Is Cajun food really the best? What regions have can give Cajun cuisine some competition?

If you had to choose either LesStrat or the Fly, which would you keep?

What is your favourite sport to either watch or play?

The photographer said, "yes."
What's your opinion on snakes,
I used to hunt them with a pellet gun in my youth. These days, there are brown snakes in my yard. When I see them, I ignore them because they feast on fireants--there's plenty of food around here.
He's an annoying li'l pooch...but my niece loves him.
the tv show Lost, the movies Fistful of Dollars and Young Guns,
Haven't seen them.
Greek-style pizza,
Does it come with pepperoni?
duct tape,
Hundred mile an hour tape?

"Duct tape is The Force – it has a light side and a dark side, and it binds the Universe together."

"There are only two things necessary in life - WD-40 and duct tape…. WD-40 for things that don't move that should, and duct tape for things that do move but shouldn't."

"If God had duct tape and PVC, He could have created the world in 3 days."

clear packing tape,
It's good, but it's not duct tape.
Windows requiring administrator permission to run defrag,
Winblows.
and mp3 players?
The iPod is rapidly approaching duct tape in its level of significance for society. It's as simple to use, too.

How does the older part of your congregation react to the Parker shape when you play in church? I have used my Nitefly in my local church a couple of times, but I have to say I'm curious about how the older ones really think of the shape.. It's quite a radical and non-conservative design..

It's a shame we've not made it a standard to ask about this for each host, but here comes:

Do you have any pics of places nearby that you like, and could you then say a little as to why you like places?

Re: The Well Part XXIV: Les Is More: Maniacal Musings of LesStrat

Do you actually gig in the streets, with all those pedals. hmm I would like to know too, how the congregation at your church reacted to the Parker.... by the way that is a very cool photo.

what's your favorite worship song and why?

your favorite forum moment?

Do you play regular at Church if so what is your set up? I am really curious?

Re: The Well Part XXIV: Les Is More: Maniacal Musings of LesStrat

What were you doing in the Middle East in the early 90s?

What's Mrs LesStrat's job (apart from keeping LesStrat happy and fed)?

Hey Stephen!

What was your most embarrasing moment?

Finding out that my father really IS the milkman.
What is your favourite dessert?
Bluebell Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, closely followed by cheesecake...or both.
Is Cajun food really the best? What regions have can give Cajun cuisine some competition?
It's not just that Cajun food is the best; it is that Cajuns cook ALL food the best. I have lived in or visited 13 countries and 21 states. There are culinary moments from my travels, but no lasting experiences that compare to the food here.

The best steak I ever had was in Montana, though.
If you had to choose either LesStrat or the Fly, which would you keep?
Fly.
What is your favourite sport to ...play?
Tonsil hockey.

No reaction. A younger guy plays a Firebird, and has been know to use a "police line: do not cross" strap. Most people think it is black, though, until they get a closer look.

This is one of many favorite places:

The gig in the pic was at the entrance to the fellowship hall of a local church. In that pic I am using the Parker, Celtic Franklin, and this pedalboard:

The bag in the back of the pic was my POD XTL. I should have plugged it in, because my amp went kind of wiggy towards the end. He's all better now, though.

In church, and in the upcoming gig, I play through a POD X3L. For the gig I will supplement the POD with a Weeping Demon Wah and a Visual Volume. The Taylor and the Ibie will come along as well.

Re: The Well Part XXIV: Les Is More: Maniacal Musings of LesStrat

what's your favorite worship song and why?
At the moment, IDK. "Heart of Worship" is a recurring favorite though. It's a reminder of WHY we worship and to take the focus off the music. "Hear Us From Heaven" by Jared Anderson is another great song.

The band just learned "Better Is One Day." I've always liked that one.

I just taught a praise song to the worship team for Spanish church that I LOVE: "You Are Good" by Israel Houghton.
your favorite forum moment?
Hard to pin down. I like the way this play self-moderates; I like to see the useful advice given, both for equipment needs and life lessons. It has been amazing to watch SD allow us to design custom shop pickups, and then build them for us as reduced prices. I enjoy the whimsy of many of the members, past and present.

A recent moment that I thoroughly enjoyed was sosomething's "alien invasion" thread. That guy has a gift. He should exercise it more often.
Do you play regular at Church if so what is your set up? I am really curious?
For guitar, either the Parker or the Ibie with the POD X3L direct to the board--we use in-ear monitors with individual digital monitoring stations. I have been playing keys more than guitar for the last year or so. The church has a Korg Triton.
What were you doing in the Middle East in the early 90s?
I was a guest of the US Army--it was about one week shy of 1-year from my exit from active duty when I was activated. I lived at Khobar Towers for about 2 months. First two weeks (in Dharan): Operating a commercial bus lot. Most people don't realize that the troops were hauled to the desert in buses donated by the Saudis.

Next coupla months: Back into my 5-ton cargo truck: I worked for a supply officer who made local purchases of needed equipment. Then I would haul the equipment 300 miles out into the northern desert to battalion headquarters. After the first trip I began making it a one day round trip.

I watched the ground war on CNN, just like you guys. The supply officer miraculously did not order any supplies that week.::saeek: I believe he was afraid that if he ordered something, he might have to accompany me to the desert to deliver it.

After that, I rejoined my unit. We hauled refugees and POWs from Iraq back into Saudi Arabia for the remainder of my stay.

I learned that if I ever had to return to active duty that I would reenlist. The National Guard has a dearth of true "leaders." The troops accomplish their missions DESPITE the leaders, not because of them.

FTR: I was an E-6 Staff Sergeant. When my time to leave the NG arrived, I was offered a promotion if I would stay. I was told that I would regret it if I got out (funny, they said the same thing when I left the Army). The only time that thought has ever occurred was when I realized that if I had stayed in I could be retired at 50% pay. Then the thought passed.:D
What's Mrs LesStrat's job (apart from keeping LesStrat happy and fed)?
Kindergarten teacher in a parochial school.
