Thomastik-Infeld strings

JB_From_Hell

Jomo's Nimions
Got a set of 9-46... so far so good. Although, I'm not crazy about paying $8.50 for a set of strings... Anybody have any comments about them? I got the Power Brights, and they are HELLA-bright.

Re: Thomastik-Infeld strings

My guitar teacher uses them. He says they're the only company that gives him 10's with a .049 E, but he hates paying the price for them. But he loves the sound of them.

Re: Thomastik-Infeld strings

I bought a set at the 5 Towns College guitar show, back before they moved the location of the show ...
I bought into the hype, and hated the string. The tone was blah, very flat and compressed, and tinny sounding. By the time they broke in, they were dead!!

Then I discovered DR's the following year, back when DR was doing trade shows and giving away their strings, 2 sets for $10!!!!

I've never looked back.

Re: Thomastik-Infeld strings

ive used the power brights 11's, nice strings but i didnt think they were anything special. i use dr's
i have tried pyramid strings and they were very nice but way expensive

Re: Thomastik-Infeld strings

^^^ Interesting. Thanks for the info :) I don't know that I've necessarily bought into their hype, but it's more "I'll try anything once." So far they seem ok, but for double price, they better start kicking some serious ass really soon :D

Re: Thomastik-Infeld strings

They make some of the best strings for violin but I've never tried thier guitar strings.

If you want to use expensive strings, I also think the DR's are the best and I really can a difference between DR's and regular strings like Ernie Balls or D'Addarios.

I use DR's on my acoustic guitars...but D'Addarios are just fine too.
