i think a fan actually hitting the tubes with air cannot be good in any sense.. think of pouring boiling water into a cold glass and you'll see what i mean ;)

but yeah - outside the case, just to move air around the chassis sounds good. effectively you're decreasing air temperature regularly, not one vulnerable spot..

Actually I think it depends how you use the fan. If you have the fan on even before turning on the amp then the temperatures would be more consistent. I think what your saying is about turning on a fan after it has been on for a while and the amp is heated. I can see why that could cause harm if that happened because the temperature changes would drastic.
