TS-808 vs ZW44...

Re: TS-808 vs ZW44...

Whats the different between the TS-808 and TS-9?

Is it really worth the extra money? And which one is best for boosting to Metallica like sound?

SeraphimTN is right about that. If you like or MIGHT like a TS-808, do yourself a favor and buy a tubulator. Knowing what I know today, if the price of this pedal jumped to $75 and mine was stolen, I'd still buy a replacement in a heartbeat. I wouldn't even have to think about it. It costs the same as two sets of ordinary strings.

I've had my eye on those for awhile... I figure at that price, they can't be THAT bad!

he SD-1 and ZW-44 work really good as a boost with the level all the way up and gain all the way down.
Well (In my rig anyway) turning down the gain and having the level on full (with an SD-1) does not boost the volume at all (maybe a little bit but not much) and just thins out and recks the tone (thats why i am getting my SD-1 modded) but putting the gain at 9:00 and putting the level all the way up does boost it and does increase a little gain but far from excessive.

This is probably because your preamp has already hit it's ceiling leaving no headroom for a boost. If the preamp is set to be clean, then you'll get some boost but once that ceiling is reached, all you'll get is more saturation.
