Re: VLine 6 Vetta II

They are very nice. I have the head and cab and love it. I have been jamming and gigging with that amp for a few years now.

Re: VLine 6 Vetta II

papersoul that's not what he wanted to hear lol

as far as line 6's go, I've never tried a Vetta II, but it looks like a promising amp... sorry Stevo :)

Re: VLine 6 Vetta II

The Vetta kicks alot of ass. I wouldn't mind stealing one from GC.

Re: VLine 6 Vetta II

While they provide a lot in tones, their sound doesn't compare to a tube amp's and doesn't stand out in the mix.

For example, Bleeding Through is one of the bands on the second stage at this year's Ozzfest. They swear by Line 6 Vettas for their versatility. However, when I saw them play on the second stage this past July, I could barely hear a note their guitars were playing. It was especially frustrating during solo breaks. I could hear bass, drum, vocals, and even keyboards, but barely any guitar.

If you want one for the studio that's fine, but if you're trying to play live, you're better off with tubes.

It's called a bad sound man, and every guitarist hates them.

Dang,.Looks like i'll have to start saving up..:laugh2:
But you can do so damn much with it, You dont even need to carry around any effects, all you need is a head and 2X12 and you have any effect, tone, volume possible, and you could plug into the sound board and simply use your cab as a monitor, and you'd still have killer tone at low levels..

Just think of all the posibilities :damnit:

I think im definitly gonna have to plug into one the next time i find one in a shop

MAKE IT STOP :crying:

Re: VLine 6 Vetta II

i tried a vetta one and it sounded awesome!

but i couldnt figure how to work it so i just kept going to the next patch and trying that...

i can only imagine a vetta 2 would sound better

Re: VLine 6 Vetta II

This thing is definitly going on my to try list..

Could any of you guys tell me the differences between the Vetta I and II, they both seem to do the same thing only the I is rated 200w and II 300w, theres about a €100 difference aswell..

Cheers

Re: VLine 6 Vetta II

Oh and if anyones played the Vettas and Vox AD60 that would be a nice comparison, Ive played the AD60 and that is the greatest non tube amp(non power tube) ive ever heard..

Then why did every other band on the second stage sound great? And how come I've encountered the same problem with other Vetta users I've watched live (namely Tantric and Ill Nino)? Not all soundmen can be that bad.

Don't talk down to me.

Hmm interesting point.. Although when i was at metallica n both occasions the solo's were quiet difficult to hear, didnt quiet cut through, but i blamed that on the fact the crowd was very loud..
A load of friends were at Ozzfest a few years back and said that it was the Worst sound they ever heard, but could have been just due to venue of something else..

Still its hard to believe that a 300w (they claim its just about the same as 200w tube) cant cut through the mix..Mabye they like to cut their mids?

That was my experience with Metallica, as well. Note to self (and Kirk H), "When playing in a metal band, put the mids back during solos or no matter how loud it is(within reason), any other instrument with mids will cover me up". :laugh2:

I don't think that the Vetta II is responsible for terrible tone. It's just like any other device-user error is a big part of the equation.

Re: VLine 6 Vetta II

Yeah, I saw metallica in january and it was one big mess of a mix. I just put it down to them using mesa.

I've played the vetta, and it is very impressive sounding, but it feels weird. It reacts like there's some kind of buffer between you and the amp, and it's hard to get dialed into the tone.

If I was you, I'd try and find a local band that uses one, and see what you think of it in a live context. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it didn't cut through very well in a live situation. That's been my experience with other line 6 amps.

Most importantly, you can buy a lot of amp for that money. It's more important to get an amp with one sound you really like than to get an amp with every sound but the right one.

As far as the vox ad60 goes, it's far too underpowered for live work. go for the more powerful model.

Oh yeh , the AD 60 is pretty underpowerd but I have played with one for quiet a while as my friend owns one and the tones that i could get out of it (with my wolfie) were just crazy..

Mabye your right about the whole lotta amp there..

Re: VLine 6 Vetta II

Dang pressed the wrong button :smack:

continued..

I think its my Inner child (after all i am only 17) that wants to satisfy the urge to have such a sheer volume of possibilities in such a small box(relative to the amount of stuff as it looks pretty big)..

Funny though as yesteray before i got lured in to line6's site i was considering getting an amp for clean and use my DSL for dirty work, I could use the Mass to its full extent on th DSL without havning to turn the clean channel up to compensate (as it gets quiet distorted) Then for ease of transport use the hopefully then fully constructed and functional 2x12 cab in stereo..

And after writing that msg i think mabye getting a dedicated clean head would be much more sensible way of spending my money...

Hmm...
