Re: Well looky here (new Mesa MK Series)
I kinda expected this, and I really like the concept. The extra power gives it a bit more versatility. While I love the sound of a big amp, I've found over the years that a 35--50-watt amp and works pretty well for most club gigs.
I've got amps from my 112 DC-3 (35 watts, Dyna-Watt) and the 30 watt Class Maverick 212 on the low end. The big half-stack is a 200 watt Mark III beast, and the Mark III, IV, V combos have a whole range of power settings, from 10 watts to 90 watts. And I have a nice selection of cabs, so I can cover most any venue.
And I just complicated things even more...three weeks ago, I managed to get the deal of a lifetime on a used Mark V:25 full stack. It sounds fantastic, and equal to the big V in a simpler format...but it does have a different "feel". I really haven't had the chance to gig with it yet, or fully wring it out, but it should be loud enough to use for many of the gigs I do.
So as much as I love Mesa amps, this is one I probably won't be pursuing, not because I won't be lusting for it (I will!), but because I already have several amps in this range.
I can't wait to try one out!
