well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

Re: well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

Those and the little JVM's were the only ones I was interested in. Still not interested enough to drop that kind of coin on them though.

Re: well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

Wow! Didn't think they would have that kind of price. I was expecting something along the lines of the Class 5 in price. I'll wait a while and see if they start coming up on the used market or if the price drops.

Re: well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

I guess I don't get the concept.

When I bought a 5-watt Class 5, I bought it for what it is. I really didn't buy into the whole "baby plexi" hype. And I still don't.

Re: well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

JMP sounded pretty decent when I played it at GC, nice high end bit, class 5's are much warmer sounding i use to have one

Re: well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

i needs one of these babies for the studio. although i play a 100 watt dual recto now and my rhythm guitarist uses a 100 watt 5150, we both love the sounds of little lunch box type amps. particularly the mini rectifier, krankenstein jr, and what may possibly be my favorite amp, the jim root terror

Re: well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

i WANT I WANT! WAAAAMBULANCE!! be cheaper! I wanna trade my epiphone valve junior in for one of these babies - they are prolly too loud tho for me to use em even at 1/4 watt for my quiet 3 story apartment building...and not loud enough like the valve junior is for jamming with drums tho and too expensive!!

Re: well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

Are these 1-watt Marshalls hand wired? I guess that would explain the cost. AFAIK the Class 5 is also made in England but does not cost nearly as much.

You could probably get a 'boutique' hand wired 1 watt Marshall-style amp for about the same or not much more than the Marshall.

Re: well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

Not handwired they look kind of cheap actually, your paying for the sound. Wish they make them for $400 there sell like crazy. I liked the JMP that I played, def has the marshall vibe

Re: well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

cant open ebay here at work, but Im afraid of what they cost. When I heard they were coming out, I was salivating and if they sound great, I would have LOVED LOVED LOVED to have gotten one.. But not at the $800-900 price I heard they would have.

Re: well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

I was looking at a used 50w JCM800-2203 for $800 last year in my local store. Wisely, I decided not to get it, cuz I figured I could it new with 1watt if I waited long enough. Perfect to go thru my $700 4 x 1" slant cab/ half stack. (I had the full stack but I lost it in the cushions in my couch)

Re: well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

The guys at Marshall must have hit themselves in the head with a hammer when coming up with the prices. If they were mass-produced and cost $200, everyone would jump on one. But because of the "limited run" and price, I don't see ANYONE with a right mind buying one. For the same money or even a little more, you could get the real deal amps or something exactly same/better (depends on taste).

Reality Check;
THIS is a JMP. Its One Hundred Watts of Pure Bad-Assitude. Full Stack Compulsary.;

It may be a business decision in that Marshall probably make most of their money moving their budget amps whilst justifying the extra upgrade cost of their professional line as a ticket to attaining "REAL" Marshall tone.

I played a combo at GC and it sucked. You better have an external cab if you want one to sound great!

Not really the smartest business decision if they had so much more potential to make money, but decided not to.

Also, so far the people on here that have tried them out said they aren't really that good, and not really that classic Marshall tone. I'd still like to try one though to see for myself if it is any good.

Yep, and I'm not sure why anyone would realistically expect them to be, either. THAT tone was mostly due to a 50- or 100-watt power section cranked up and breathing fire. That's not exactly something a 1-watt lunchbox can duplicate.

Re: well, the 1-watt JCM800's have landed

Marshall 50th Anni 1 Watt amps are $700-$800 stompboxes with a shiny Marshall logo... 'nuff said.

Seriously lacking in features.
