Re: What are some budget guitars with Mahogany bodies?
Forgot about my Raven West.. (MIK/$450 new)
Maple neck-through with mahogany wings & a spalted maple cap.. fantastic looking & playing guitar....really nice solid build too :bigthumb:
I ****ing wish I'd got another Raven West..they don't seem to be around anymore (at least these models don't)...and the rare used ones I see these days cost way more than I paid for mine new..
Many of the demo's I've heard have been post modding the snot out of it. I've picked up several and they feel all wrong to even have the Kramer name on the headstock. As a Kramer fan and owner of a Baretta from the company pre-1990, as well as a few Focus models in the past, I gotta say, I'm not impressed with how the big G has handled things. I'd grab a cheap Ibanez before one of those things.
Godin Exit 22 sold new for about 300$ and was all mahogany body. Maple neck with either maple or rosewood fingerboard. You can still pick them up cheap. They're excellent guitars, great sculpted heel joint.
+1 for Godin Exit 22. I just bought one last Christmas. Fit and finish is very good, the mahogany body is having a 3D aspect that is unreal, the neck profile fits me like a glove, I upgraded the pickups and it is now my #1. Build in USA from Canada parts.

G&L Ascari might float yer boat. I got mine in dead stock condition for $330 shipped. Needed typical cheap guitar stuff: nut, fret dressing, edge roll on the board. Electronics will be modded eventually. But still a great bang for the buck, and it was a very early model, so it came with a high quality G&L gig bag.
