Re: What do you tune to?

i have different guitars for different tunings. i have my jackson dinky with a floyd rose always in standard E. i have my jackson rr5 in standard but the strings are 10-52 in case i want to do drop D. then i have my ibanez sa for whatever tuning that is lower then standard. i dont really play it much because i like standard better. just a preference i guess.

Re: What do you tune to?

E standard.
Let's me play along to classic thrash metal songs:)
When I get my 7 string, just standard 7 string tuning, should be enough for me.

Re: What do you tune to?

my guitars are each set up for specific tunings....E, Eb, D, drop D, drop Db. i sold my drop C guitar so sometime down the road i may need to replace that.

I'm w/ Mike on this. It depends on the guitar and pickups used as to what the guitar gets tuned to. Right now I have 1 in E, 1 in E flat, 1 Drop D, 1 in D and the LP jr. style w/ P90's is tuned to C for them magic Sabbath riffs.

Re: What do you tune to?

Using E standard without exception on my electrics. Both on my Parker Nitefly M and my G&L Legacy. Because that's what 99% of the songs I play is based on (or at least, it feels right).. Currently I am playing a bunch of funky gospel, pop, rock... I used mostly E standard when I did play more metal music, and I have recently found the urge for learning a couple of Opeth songs. Still E standard.. ;)

As for the acoustic, I usually leave it at E standard, but I might drop it as far as C# tuning, depending on the songs I play. I love that raw feeling when tuning down on the acoustic.

Re: What do you tune to?

Most of the time, Drop D. I'll use E standard a lot too, as well as standard 7 string tuning and CGCGCe Open-C tuning every now and then.

Re: What do you tune to?

D standard and drop A. That's for all sorts of metal, stoner and doom stuff.

Re: What do you tune to?

Standard E, medium action, 11 gauge strings. ....I guess I should use F with a high action and 12's.

If your like me and play some passages with "gusto" ( force ) then fret buzz is a major headache for any tuning lower than standard E.
:headbang:

Re: What do you tune to?

Standard E for the win. You can do just about anything except the heaviest of metals. I do like Standard D alot but some chord forms just don't sound the same. I use an Ibanez SZ520 (alt 8/Alnico2 pro) for everything from funk and softer music to modern rock and metal.

Re: What do you tune to?

E standard most of the time.

Drop D occasionally.

Eb standard when I am jamming with Lizzy or KISS.

Re: What do you tune to?

As Mike said I have specific guitars set up to do what I like them to do. I use a variety of tunings. E Standard, Eb, Dropped D, Open D & Open E, Open G & Open A and even a few hybrids I have come up with. I also do a few things in G minor tuning.

Re: What do you tune to?

The band I'm in playes in Eb. I like to kick over to DADGAD once in a while, and it sounds great down a half step to Db.

Re: What do you tune to?

A Strat in standard E, a Strat in standard B, and an SG in standard C, dropped when necessary...

Re: What do you tune to?

Drop C for me maybe every once in a great while ill do these but its rare.
DGCFAD
DADGBE
I mostly play shadows fall and COB and anything of this type so these are usually the common tunings. All my own work is written in drop C though.
