What does this letter tell you?

On a fender mustang neck the stamp sometimes reads date month year and sometimes is followed by A or B what does this A or B represent?

B refers to "B Stock," which are also known as factory 2nds. It means that the item isn't quite up to factory QC standards, and is sold new at a discounted price.

wait... doesn't A stand for thin width neck and B stand for wide width? (or vice versa?)
