What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

This is my first guitar when I was 18 or so I think, a 2000 MIM Fender Strat and if memory serves that was a Fender Frontman. What a crappy amp that was, didn't even have reverb!

This is how the Strat looks like now (except for the SCs which are now the StraBro90s, the broken pot has also been replaced):

And this is what has currently replaced the Frontman (between them two was also a Line 6 Spider II 30 which was sold when I bought the B-52)

It goes without saying that I've got some more guitars since then as well but that's another story ;)

I had a piece of crap acoustic with action about and inch off the fretboard...lol.

A Fender Precision bass and a Polytone Mini Brute amp.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

Charvel Model 3 with a Crate G10. Bought a Laney GL100 after a couple of years. Bought a Soldano SLO100 at the end of high school(still have it). Then went vintage with Les Pauls and Marshalls.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

Guitars - When I was 17 I bought a used '76 Strat. I sold it after a year and bought a Bronco that I put an FS-1 in, then also bought an Ibanez PF-100 (LP copy). When I was 19 I sold both the Bronco and the PF-100 and bought a '74 SG Standard (which I kept til I was 25).

Amps - When I was 17 I bought a Marshall JTM45 (£40!) that I used with various borrowed and beaten-up cabs until I sold it to buy a JMP master volume combo when I was 20. I also had a Peavey Classic combo for a while when I was 18-19 (one of the ones with cascadable channels and a built-in phaser).

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

It was the 80's...............I had a Kramer.........everybody had a Kramer!

...........then I started buying Les Pauls. Standard: $525~Deluxe: $425~Custom: $600~Black Custom in my avatar: $700

Those were the days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nauseating!!! :barf: And they are all awesome, arent they?? wow

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

I had an accoustic with 1" action that I couldnt play. My brother bought me a $15 Diasonic electric guitar from a guy in the marine corp. Was crud, but special to me for that. I bought an amp from sears. Every time Id use any volume, the speaker would load up and would just hum. So I bought a Kramer Striker and a Peavey Special 130. Sadly, I was singing in bands at the time an more focused on racing dirtbikes, so I never played guitar much.. Now Im old and have 0 time, Im trying to learn..

·My cheapo Epiphone in my sig, only stock.
·A Yamaha 10 watts amp. It was awful.
·A Boss Metal Zone and a Boss Equalizer. Those two put together actually sound pretty good even nowadays.

I also rocked a Jackson KE3 for some time, and a KV4. Never gelled with either.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

'74-'77: an SG Special and a BF Vibrolux, I had a few pedals like a Maestro phaser, a Boss Tone fuzz, a Vox treble booster, a weird Schaller preamp gizmo...for a short time, I had a red Superlead and matching cab that had Buddy Miles name stencilied on it (???). I traded the Vibrolux for it and then traded back...

Later ('77-'79), I got a '57 goldtop and a pair of BF Deluxe Reverbs...this stuff used to be cheap onctuponatime. I sold it all and moved to Wyoming to be a cowboy.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

I was rocking a Gibson Les Paul Standard, MIM Fender Strat and a Hughes & Kettner Triamp.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

Lets see... when I was 18/19 you probably would've found me with my red MIM Strat, probably with a JB bridge in it at the time. I also had an Ibanez Jem 555.

My pedals were constantly changing but a DanElectro Dan-Echo, Digitech Whammy, Marshall Jackhammer, some type of flanger, old Dunlop Crybaby that I'd modded, and a volume pedal could be found on the board.

My amp at the time was a Marshall VS265R.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

An off brand explorer and a Sunn model T.

edit: and a Muff Fuzz.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

ESP M-1 NTB (89) -> Maxon OD808 -> BOSS NS-2 -> Mesa Dual Recto -> Recto 4x12.

Also have a Schecter and Squier (EMG's), PODxt, StroboStomp, and a slew of other recording gear.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

HA! GARBAGE!

I had a mid 70's Lincoln (yes, thats the brand!) bolt neck Les Paul copy that after a while I got a set of DiMarzio's for which ran into a crappy Crybaby wah into, early on a DOD Grunge pedal (later on this got swapped for a Big Muff Pi) and then an Electro Harmonix Poly Flange which I borrowed from my dad and that mess ran into a 30 watt Radio Shack 2 channel PA head into a 1x12 with a horn Peavy International PA cab with the horn disconnected...it was to say the least a terrible sounding mess.

Sometime later on, still in my teens I saved big and bought a 1969 Twin Reverb so I then ran the same pedals and guitar with the TR and my sound did get MUCH better, it was a little while after that change that I had enough money to buy a better guitar...I ended up with a late 70's Yamaha SG2000 and not too long after that added a Pro Co Rat and dumped the Big Muff...I kept it but used it a lot less.

At this same time I was also doing a lot of acoustic gugs as well...at the time I had a late 70's boilt neck (yes...bolt neck!) Epiphone D size acoustic...I needed to have a pickup because most places around town didn't want to mess with micing guitars so I added the surface mount pickup from a late 60's Teisco that I bought at a hock shop for like $35...it sounded pretty terrible but it got me by for a long, long time!

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

I had
-a Squier II Strat HSS (It was okay, I guess.)
-a Crate G15-something (with reverb!) (Who cares what it sounded like! I had an Ibanez distortion pedal!)
-an Ibanez MS-10 distortion pedal (I loved it then, but I know it sucked.)
-a DOD FX-17 wah/volume pedal (It sucked, and I knew it.)
-an Ibanez CS5 SoundTank chorus pedal (It was noisy and not very good.)

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

Jackson RR3
Laney protube 50
danelectro daddy o (it was actully pretty brutal with the laney distortion)
music man 212 combo amp(amp was jerked out) for a cab

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

I started with a Fender Duo-Sonic and some small Fender amp ..... I think it was a Tremolux or something. When I was still a teen a got a Tele and a rolled and tucked naugahide blue Kustom head and cab.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

At 17, I was probably still playing a lawsuit-era Bradley SG copy, but shortly thereafter upgraded to a real Gibson SG - wine red 69 standard with a Maestro Vibrola. My amp was a '72-ish silverface Twin Reverb, with a master volume but no pull-boost. In between, an MXR Distortion+ and a Crybaby. Homemade talkbox on the side.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

A Fender Squier Bullet and a Fender Deluxe 85 amp. I think I had a RAT distortion pedal at one point also.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

HA! GARBAGE!

HA! Me, too!

Memphis (that's the brand) Les Paul copy, which I played upside down...I predated the Kramer Kraize by a 2 or 3 years, so I never had one.

a Hohner solid state amp...(took me a month to figure out the speakers were wired out of phase from each other...ha ha ha...still sounded like crap even in phase)

But what was between the rockin' memphis LP copy and the rockin' Hohner amp??...an Echoplex, which I believe I paid ~$25 for in ~1982 (man, I wish I still had the Echoplex...I don't think it was an EP3...it had funny colored LEDs, as I recall).
