What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

Great thread!

In my mid- to late-teens, I played a stock Kramer Focus 3000 into a Roland GP-8 rack processor, then into a BBE Sonic Maximizer, then into a Peavey 212 Classic Chorus.

I still have the Kramer (and I think I have the BBE somewhere), but the GP-8 and Peavey are long gone.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

- Hohner L75 (pretty awesome bolt-on LP copy)
- Legend EVH (plywood wonder, my first object of modding madness that turned to be great)
- Marshall Valvestate 8080
- '69 Selmer Treble'n'Bass + 1X15" bass cab (I used the two amps simultaneously)
- Jim Dunlop JH1S wah (I still use that)
- Korg G1
- Boss ME-5 (never used that)
- ancient Korg precision chromatic tuner (lost years ago and still missing)

I still have the whole pack somewhere around...

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

My first guitar was an acoustic my Mom bought me at Sears for $20. I played that for about a year, then bought a Hagstrom II for about $50. I had a Reverb-o- Rocket amp by Ampeg. Cool amp cool guitar. I replaced the Hagstrom with my '63 Jaguar which was stolen and I bought an SG to replace it, which I still have. I replaced the Ampeg with a BF vibrolux. this was around '66. I used the Fender and SG until I blew up the amp. I got a Ampeg head to replace the Fender but it was not the same. Now I have a lot to choose from. Fenders & Gibsons of all sorts as well as some really superb amps.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

Inexpensive MIJ Strat, I still have, and a Peavey amp I still have!

I also had a Piano then!

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

I had a squire strat, a schecter omen 6 and a fender princton chorus 50 w combo. very poor compared to the mountains of gear i have now.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

Ibanez RG170
Aria STG004
Zoom 505
Fender RocPro 1000 Head and 4x12 cabinet

I was 19 when I bought my Les Paul, but that hardly belongs in the same list as those world-class pieces of gear.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

Forgot to mention my DOD Grunge pedal I think it was called. NASTY!

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

hmmmm... first guitar was a kramer ripoff by Slammer (Hamer) and my first amp was a small crate with built-in effects. I was totally in toneland! LOL

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

Ibanex GIO GRX40
Marhshall MG15cd
Zoom 505II

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

I've had well over 30 guitars from the age 14-23, several amps and pedals too, so I don't know what I had at any given time...

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

At 19 I rocked an ESP LTD SC-207 and an Orange Rockerverb 100.

Now, at age 20, I have an Ibanez S5470. Now, all I need to be set for life is some pedals... As of now, I have an Ibanez Turbo Tube Screamer... I should probably get started on that... hah!

Next, I'm gonna get a wah pedal.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

Early 80's

Parts guitar consisting of:

Charvel or Schecter (can't remember which) Star Body.
Fender Mustang neck, headstock cut to look as close to an Explorer as I could.
Schaller tuners, G&L tremelo (couldn't afford Floyd), single Seymour Duncan Custom .

Boss CE-2 Chorus

Peavey Backstage amp

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

Ibanez Blazer (Strat type hardtail, maple fretboard, very cool guitars). First natural, then various forms of yellow metallic, now anthracite black.

A white Japanese Flying V.

Some 50W Marshall head, Tom Scholz Power Soak, self-made cabinet.

Some very old tube amp that was built for voice used for clean guitar sounds.

I had an Ibanez Musician MC400something around that time, not sure I had that before I turned 20. In any case, I never liked it and never played it on stage IIRC.

Re: What gear did you rock when you were in your late teens?

ESP M-1 NTB (89) -> Maxon OD808 -> BOSS NS-2 -> Mesa Dual Recto -> Recto 4x12.

Also have a Schecter and Squier (EMG's), PODxt, StroboStomp, and a slew of other recording gear.

Man, are you rich or something?
You're 18 and already own a Dual Recto, recto Cab, christ.
I don't know a single person, in real life anyway, at that age that could afford stuff like that.
Have you been working since you about 12 years old or something woa.
I'm 20, and no way in my teen years and no way would I have been able to pull 8 grand (Aussie dollars though) out of my pocket to buy that kinda stuff.
Even now, as a 20 year old, I'm only just starting to make enough money to finally have a custom made guitar and probably a good tube amp before I turn 21.
