What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

My plaintop '96 LP Standard. It's been to every gig I've played in the last ten years, and was used pretty much exclusively until I acquired my '91 Classic (avatar pic) a couple of years ago. The Classic is a great guitar (and better looking!), but the Standard and I have a special relationship formed from many years rockin' out together. :)

Thats basically the guitar I wish mine was! Gorgeous, I can always enjoy a plain top.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

My 73' Strat is the one I tend to grab for versatility. With a Cool Rails in the bridge it's got enough versatility to cover alot of ground. I've got both the neck and bridge rigged up to one tone pot as well. If I can only bring one axe to something this is likely the one.

The other would be my Wine Red Greco Les Paul Custom. Bone stock it is, just removed the pickguard and the thing has never ceased to not sound awesome no matter what it's plugged into.

Both of those get packed up for gigs. They're great axes but if I lose them I won't feel like I lost a part of my soul, just a really well-worn tool.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

My green '99 LP Studio with Custom/Jazz can take me just about everywhere I need to go. Been my #1 since I bought it 7 years ago.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

that's easy...

my Schecter...i compare all other guitars to this one...and i've yet to find one that can compete!

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

You said one, but I have two it just depends on my mood.

'03 MIM Strat w/ Pearly Gates in the bridge. My go-to guitar at the moment.

Dean Icon. C5/59 Combo. I gave up on wiring the coil tap when I rewired it, but once that's done she'll probably regain #1 status. I'm in love with single coil clean tones. With the tapping in place this guitar covers so much ground for me.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

i own 20 something guitars and the only one i've played in the past ~4 weeks has been this one...

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

These 2 go to my grave, they´re about 90% of what I play, regardless of what, when, where, why, how or with whom.:headbang:

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

My main has been my Ltd ec-1000 (avatar) for the last 4 years... every gig, every jam, everything...

I recently bought a LP Classic and, although I'm falling in love with it (very easy playing/great sounding guitar), the LTD will probably still see most of the live action as I'm not as worried about it than I am with the LP... I take very good care of my gear but this is no collectible or super-expensive guitar and yet plays and sounds awesome for what I want/need from it.

For practice and playing shows? My heavily-modified Carvin CT4C:

For songwriting and recording, I write and track probably 95% on this:

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

i love the variation here ! we are all over the place when it comes to our #1
I espesially love that many of us have fixed up cheaper guitars !
Mines a washburn wi-64d
I have changed some of the "distressed" hardware for black, changed knobs, put a custom in the bridge pickup spot, wired true coil split (instead of the vcc), rounded the fingerboard edge and cleaned up the fret ends. Lots of tones in here, I might do some more custom wiring in a little bit, but it is #1 (honestly I only have 2 electrics)

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

Cream that is a badass Teisco, very cool.

My working class dog my '05 Faded Standard, it is a great guitar.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

My Workhorse is my 1992 MIM Tele. When I'm recording somethng and I need a particular tone, I can squeeze it from this one. She's not much to look at anymore but she's got mojo for days.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

My go-to guitar until just recently was my modded Epi LP Standard. It is the best Epi I've played and with the PRS Tremonti Treble and SD Alnico II Pro it is equal or better in playability and tone than many other higher priced guit's out there. However, when I received my Edwards Les Paul Custom it immediately took the place as my #1. The tone is thicker and more refined. The ebony fretboard smooth and effortless to play across. It makes the Epi feel like I a toy. I play the Edwards for roughly 80% of the songs my band plays. If I need something more aggressive I'll pick up the Epi otherwise I'll stick with the Edwards.

My 2001 Les Paul Classic.

Although my Carvin DC127c sees a lot of action as well.
