What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

i have 2 work horses.... Number 1 is my 1988 American Standard Strat... beta to crap, has a JB in the bridge and sounds so nice!!!!! My back up is a 1999 Mexican Standard with a Custom in the bridge...

The Mexican goes to places i'd never take my number 1... some bars and jams i would never carry my favourite with me.... The American goes to places where Tone really really counts!

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

Mine is my 05 MIM Strat, SSS. I move around my axes a lot, but the Sunburst one stays in the fray.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

Mattt - absolutely no idea what that thing is. The headstock is really reminiscent of of something to me (not hohner) but I can't place it. It looks cool, though. I like the figuring on the neck.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

My workhorse is definatly my stratocaster for pretty much anything. I beat the hell out of it. I just got done changin the pickups configuration to so that the bridge is reverse angled. My best guitar is definatly my les paul, and thats the one that sounds best, but anytime I'm in a jam and need something that I dont have to worry about scratchin, dropping anything, out comes the strat.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

This is mine. My first guitar. It's a Hohner with stock pickups and it sounds/plays great. I have no idea what model it is, nor it seems does anyone else, not even Hohner themselves. Any ideas?

Dunno much about Hohners but it looks like the lovechild resulting from a threesome between a Wolfgang, a Tele and an LP. Looks sweet, especially for a first guitar.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

My stock wolfgang special, I will never get rid of this axe. I have played it so much that it feels like an extension of my arms. I know there is not much to it but I love this guitar.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

It's been this one for about 7ish years now.
'87 MIJ Squier body,scalloped '90 Wayne's World neck,also MIJ.
DiM FT-2's @ nk & br,3-way switch,Master Vol.
It sustains great, sounds wonderful, stays in tune, & no string breakage issues.
It's paid for itself MANY times over,& bought A LOT of gear,as well!!!
The original neck has a great '62 feel, too,I'll have to put it on "something".
The WW is a little more modern feeling & the top adjust truss rod is a big plus.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

X and BB, those are some nice strats.

Mine would be my '99 American Deluxe Tele I chanced upon at a garage sale for $250. The setup on this thing is flawless.

Re: What is YOUR "workhorse" guitar?

I actually have two "workhorse" guitars. First, my ESP LTD EC-100QM (with Hot Rodded combo) was my main workhorse for the longest time, and also afterwards when I put in push/pull pots.

Then I got my Fender Lite Ash Stratocaster and that ended up being my workhorse guitar because the music we started playing was predominantly Hillsong (and their lead uses a Strat, so... :D)

I'm not parting with either. However, I may "upgrade" the guitar around the pickups when it comes to my ESP, but this will have to be later on.

Sweet!
I'm trying to wean myself off of mine, but I don't really have anything up & running to replace it or give it the option of staying home & being lazy...
I've got (almost?) a bunch of guits, but most have some kinda issue(s).
"Maybe" when my Warmoth project is done, have to wait & see!!!!!

i nailed it when i built this sucker and it does everything i ask it to. so it's taken the place as #1!

-Mike

That's one guitar I'd love to have. I can see why it'd be a #1. Amazing guitar.
