What I've been up to in the last 2 months (Gretsch/Green Buddy content). Lots of pics

Re: What I've been up to in the last 2 months (Gretsch/Green Buddy content). Lots of

Yeah mills, they're pretty darn solid. I'd definitely recommend it.

I think you're in the minority though, lots of people want one of the other Gretsches or something, but you go straight for the $99 acoustic! :)

Well maybe had I not just got a nice red 5122 double cut electromatic about a month ago I would of had a change of heart LOL

I honestly had my heart set on a 6120 in orange (naturally) but after seeing the 5122 with its hot red top, with black sides and all that chrome I just had get it.

Yeah dude, I've been talking with him. He asked for some more pics of the neck last night, but he's sure he can give me a good deal. I'm looking forward to working with him, sounds like a super nice guy and his work is impeccable.

Thanks for the tip! I appreciate it

No problem, bro! Very cool, hope it all works out.

Before I respond, Captain Tightpant's buddy is willing to completely fix my neck for $300 with the same fretboard, or $400 with a new fretboard (ebony)! That's a great deal as far as I'm concerned, and is far cheaper than anyone else I've contacted. I haven't had a single person say under $500, so I'm excited. Plus, he's in LA so no shipping.

I need to raise $400 by next week, I fly home Thursday. Time to gangbang some sales out real fast.

hah all i know about those old combos is my buddy's 1950's Les Paul combo sounds like the roaring voice of God cranked up to about 5 so i mean...those old amps are awesome.

And that Les Paul is unbelievable, especially since it's been so totally screwed up and is blue as my balls. What pickups are in there now? I noticed it's P90 / hum (or INTERGALACTIC STONERFUZZ DOOM CONFIGURATION for short) in the pix and that shows incredible taste.

I'd be the coolest cat in town with a green SG and blue Les Paul...then i'd just need a purple V and an orange 335. You wouldn't happen to be looking for a Strat or two would you...:smokin:

lol Yeah the Falcon isn't known for breaking up, it's clean all the way. But there are some other combos I've played that sound pretty sick when you get them going.

Funny for you to mention God in a good way. :)

The pups in my LP are a custom P90 made by a pickup company just starting up in Texas, I don't have much experience with P90s so I can't say how great it is compared to other companies' P90s, but it sounds pretty sweet to my ears. Plus, he was willing to use a cream cover and gold polepieces, so that's good. The bridge is a Pearly Gates, probably for sale very soon (to raise money).

Does the 5122 look similar to this? Not same color, but same guitar?

Because if so, then . What an awesome guitar! 6120's are great, and they're awesome too. But they're $$$ and the Electromatic models are pretty much as good without costing nearly as much.

No problem, bro! Very cool, hope it all works out.

Thank you so much! I think this'll work. Well actually, I know it can work out eventually. The trick is whether or not I can raise $400 in the next week.

Hey, that's GREAT news!!!

Oh man, I just can't wait for when you'll be able to say that the Green Buddy plays half as good as it sounds (I remember numerous comments stating otherwise even before the rod accident...)

What fretboard is in it right now? Rosewood?
Ebony is IMO a kick-ass fretboard wood but I'd be careful with all those comments about how it's screechy trebly.
Well, it does have some highs which it totally my thing but dunno about being yours ;)

Really man, glad to be hearing all things gradually working out for ya!!!
(After that all that'd be left will be to realize what the GB originally (and still) meant for you...)

Nice score on the amp and cool work done to the guits.

I agree 100%! And that's why I'm getting my guitar the $400 job and not the $300 job. In approximately 14 days, my necks going to have a new truss rod, a new Ebony board, and the biggest frets I can stick on this mother! I can't wait.

My Gretsch has ebony, and it's the most gorgeous, perfect fretboard ever.
By the way, thank you very much! It has never played that well because of the frets. They're super small, and it's just hard to work with. Big frets will be ace. She'll never sound quite as great as something like the Duo Jet, but she'll be pretty darn close once I'm done.

Nice score on the amp and cool work done to the guits.

Thanks FP! How's life been treating you?

Wow, Al, that's gonna be SWEET! Wish I could help you with the fundraising, but I'm broke, and the kids are costing us a small fortune, e.g. spring pictures, field trips, 8th grade graduation, etc. Sure like to get that Guv'nor, REALLY like to get that Pearly!

Re: What I've been up to in the last 2 months (Gretsch/Green Buddy content). Lots of

Well I can definitely give you a good deal, since you've helped me out so much! I've actually got about $255 so far, either of those would put me close to the $300 mark.

So thank you very much! :)

Re: What I've been up to in the last 2 months (Gretsch/Green Buddy content). Lots of

Wish I could, bro, but I'm outta cash, and the kids gotta come first! I'm sure the other bro's will help you out!

Re: What I've been up to in the last 2 months (Gretsch/Green Buddy content). Lots of

Sounds good, I understand! I'm sure someone on one of the forums or eBay will snap them up.
