Rosewood because of its looks, I hate most others. Tonewise, rosewood as well. Maple comes close though, just hate how it looks though.

i voted for rosewood, but i love ebony as well. I dont own anything with a maple fretboard but if i buy a fender that will be a requirement.

Wow it's been a while!!! But the only reason that I voted for Rosewood is because that has been the only wood that I played on.

I honestly don't care. Whicher one looks the best for a given instrument. I'll adjust the sound from there with other things. And since I'm not a single-sound guy, I tend to try to find the particular right voice for each individual instrument rather than trying to make (f'rinstance) a mahogany bodied and necked/rosewood boarded LP sound like an Ash and Maple Tele or vice versa. I've owned Maple, Rosewood and Ebony necks. I've never had any particular cokmplaints about any of them and I wouldn't ever rule out an instrument because it had any particular type of board. Much like the bolt-on/set/-thru neck discussions...I just don't really care so long as I like the instrument's look feel and sound.

Hate the way rosewood both looks and feels. I am indifferent to Maple. I've only owned one guitar with a maple board but regard that guitar quite highly. I prefer ebony ever since my first USA Jackson. I've never bought a guitar with anything but ebony since then.

Ebony for sheer playability. It don't stick and it's fast as lightning. Nothing beats it.

Tone-wise, it really all depends on what guitar is connected to that fingerboard.

Good tone, easy to maintain and cracks can be filled easily.

i always liked the looks of maple but i prefer the rosewood tone.

i agree with this, but i think overall i prefer maple.

There's still some good stuff out there. A lot of those companies would die their fretboard darker in the past.

i would like to have sex with that guitar. but out of respect, i think i would choose not to.

Depends on the rest of the guitar...i'm pretty easy. I tend to favor Rosewood.

I love the punch and bite of maple, especially on Fender-style guitars and basses. Unfortunately, I only have one guitar with a maple fingerboard so far (my Ibanez), all others have rosewood fingerboards.

It depends on the guitar. I like how ebony focuses and deepens the bottom end on fat bottom guitars, while retaining a nice midrange. I like the classical/jazz guitar like pick attack and the smooth sustain. I like the smooth feel with no finish. I also like the look. It can be wickedly bright, but just rolling down the tone knob a bit works fine most of the time. I would not reccomend it for ash or maple guitars though.
