What pickup should I get?

Reining PunLowered
I recently bought a Dobro. I want to amplify it.

I'm thinking of rigging it up for a guitar pickup, but I don't know what would be best.

I like the JB in my Parker. I had Phat Cats in a semi-hollow that were pretty :cool2::cool3:, but I replaced them with humbuckers. Then again, that means that I already HAVE the Phat Cats!

Should I install them in the Dobro:?:

I don't know if I'll play it through the Celtic Franklin, or maybe try using the keyboard amp (Peavey KB3).

WHat do you think?

Re: What pickup should I get?

No, Rick, it is not a mahogany Dobro. If I get a JB, would you recommend a magnet swap?

Re: What pickup should I get?

1. I think it's a '90s Hound Dog.
2. I wanna ROCK!
3. What do you recommend for the bridge and the neck?
4. I got it CHEAP, so I can butcher to my heart's content.

Re: What pickup should I get?

You literally can't go wrong with the JB.

Of course, if you want something new and original - I'm going to suggest a set of Titans.

Really, it comes down to what genre you want to play.

Coodercaster Lollars

...or find an old Lollar Horseshoe if you want to keep the horseshoe thing going (get in there before the lawsuit is complete)

Kent Armstrong

TK Smiths

...or I might recommend a set of 3 Billy Ray Earle's Carolinan Alumibuckers with a freeway switch for coil splits and extra corn. Pay close attention to the wire colors, however, as they are not the same as Duncans.
