V30s in mine, wouldn't have it any other way. I get pristine cleans and saggy overdriven tones.

Re: What speakers are in your 4x12 cab?

My Marshall Cab has a quad of G12M-25 Greenbacks. I plug the 1959RR into it.
My SPL Cab has G12T-75s and G12P-80s in an X Pattern. It's used with my rack/live rig.
My Sunn Cab has G12P-80s and Peavey Scheffield 1230s in an X pattern. I plug my JCM800 in it.
I also have a Peavey 2x12 with G12L-35s and a Peavey 118 with an 18" Black Widow. I have 2 speakers for the cab, so I can run it at 4 or 8 Ohms depending on what I need.

Re: What speakers are in your 4x12 cab?

Anyone ever done a mixture of four different speakers in their quad?

I've got pairs of G12H30s, Greenbacks, WGS V30s, and G12T-75s. Not sure if I can bothered wiring them all up if they have different sensitivity ratings.

Re: What speakers are in your 4x12 cab?

Once I was advised not to bother with wiring if there is more than 2 db sensitivity difference among speakers, which makes sense because my Governor (102 db) totally blocks texas heat (99 db I think) when they are stacked together.

thats bs. look at matchless, they use (or at least used to) a greenback (97 dB) and g12h (100dB). the g12m definitely contributes something to the tonal mix even though the g12h is stronger.

Re: What speakers are in your 4x12 cab?

I have the 75W Celestions (forgot the model number) that Marshall uses as stock speakers in their 4-12 cabs in my Peavey Penta 4-12 cab.

2-V30's, and 2-SwampThangs...big upgrade over the stock speakers.

Re: What speakers are in your 4x12 cab?

i had an old jcm 800 straight cab with g12-65 and slant that i got empty and put v30/g12h in an X pattern. those were awesome together. i used em mostly in a trio and would put the slant behind me and the straight on the other side of the stage. kicked ass but way to much to haul around.

if i were to do it again id do a straight cab with the g12h/v30 X pattern. a little more texture to the sound

I have heard this as well. I have never done it but maybe its time to try it:scratchch
