Rock/metal type stuff including thrash. My band is a metal thing, have done very thrashy stuff, some more rock stuff and some soft stuff. Its all a mess!

My main gig is funk and afrobeat. For those of you who don't know, afrobeat is an African funk derivative created by the Late Fela Anikalupo Kuti in response to seeing James Brown tour his country in the late 60s. Think long, percussive and funky. DON'T think Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

The funk I play tends to be in the late 60s, JB's, King Curtis, Meters end of things. Dirty and raw. Definitely not in the Earth, wind and fire vein.

Outside the band, I play quite a bit of dub reggae.

I'm writing hilariously gratuitous 80s rock with a friend when I have time, and hopefully putting together a blood-raw blues trio this year, too.

i'm also really into 60s souljazz, modal jazz and the more soulful end of 70s fusion. I'm hoping to put a project together that sort of sounds like 'Kind of blue' era Miles Davis, 'Love Supreme' era Coltrane, Grant Green, 'Porkpie hat' era Jeff Beck, and the more ambient end of Reeves Gabrels rolled together.

I'm also writing some stuff that sounds like Stonesy garage rock.

So I guess you could lump me under 'metal'...

you may think by my name that im a total metal thrasher........ person.

that may be true in some aspects, but i play everything that could use a guitar solo.
but i guess i would say rock, because rock is general. there's classic rock, blues rock, southern rock, progressive rock, etc. i like everything






excpet rap and punk.

Just wondering what styles of pickers we have here.

I would say that I venture into the mountain rock / ABB type music. I'm a huge fan of a band called Allgood (from Athens, GA) who played through the '90's in the south. They did a lot of gigs with another band called Jupiter Coyote, who still tours throughout the US. My style blends with both bands' guitarists.

It is a shame about Allgood - they started about the same time as Widespread Panic (www.widespreadpanic.com). Those who lived in Athens at the time ('88-'94) always wondered who would make it first. In the end, Widespread ran away with the fan base because of their original music.

Nonetheless, John Carter and Clay Fuller from Allgood are two of the best guitarists I've ever seen. Neither of them play anymore, which is a loss to that style of music. If you want to check out their music, head to this site. It is the best 8 dollars you could spend on non-mainstream music:

My band advertises as a "request" band, and we play a lot of "armpit of Nebraska" places. I like that because it means I don't have to be pigeon-holed. We can play full shows of Rock (modern and classic), Rockabilly, Blues, Country (traditional and new) and Swing. In my heart, I'm a rock player, but there's just so much to learn from every style...
