What's up with Joe Walsh?

Re: What's up with Joe Walsh?

I think Joe should have gotten an Emmy for his portrayal of Ed on the Drew Cary Show. :naughty: And he was funny as heck on Whose Line Is It Anyway. "Always remember, it's hard to meditate on amphetamines."

From what I've heard he's always talked like that. Yet he's a smart and gifted person and one of my all time favorite guitar players. Plus he's a legend in my home town, Akron. Among the very first records I ever bought were his first three solo albums. Tone, taste and feel. James Gang Live, oh man...

I've always thought of him as the funniest rock star ever. Also his videos are funny; I think it's just the way he is.

If he (God forbid) broke both his hands, he could certainly make it as stand up comedian!

Joe is one of my favorite players. He's so fun to listen to. He's what I call a tasty player. There's just something about how he plays the notes that really puts a real cool feel to it and you know that it's him. I've got The Eagles DVD from Melbourne and he's just amazing on that. The Hell Freezes Over video is cool as well. Now, if I could just learn to play slide like he does.

I dig the brick patterned suit he wore at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. It made me laugh.

Joe Walsh is The Dude, in the The Big Lebowski of Rock 'n' Roll!

I think that's the one where they do a whole section of just Joe's songs. I'm not an Eagles fan, but that part where they are just his backing band and he does all his tunes is awesome. As a kid, i got his live album, 'You Can't Argue With A Sick Mind', he rocked then and he still rocked his songs on that dvd from Melbourne 30 years later. And he has a ball doing it, and he shares the fun. What's not to love?

Re: What's up with Joe Walsh?

I didn't find anything wrong with him... Actually he seemed pretty clear headed and presented a lot of interesting points. The interview was informative as a whole - in regards to what things he wants out of the guitar. Just because he speaks slowly, and makes some funny mouth noises, and intonations doesn't mean much to me, and i think it has nothing to do with drugs.

You should hear some of my former college professors who never had anything to do with drugs. One looks and sounds like a goblin, the other one like he is constantly reading a death sentence (too much voice authority is bad sometimes folks), the third one keeps asking you "so what???" until you want to tell him - dude just try to understand what i'm saying, so you wouldn't have to constantly ask me "so what???"...

Joe Walsh is the man. Great sense of humor, he seems like a pretty humble guy and he is instantly identifiable.

Re: What's up with Joe Walsh?

That's Just Joe. Read "Heaven and Hell" by Don Felder. You will get well acquainted with Joe.

Significant hearing loss will change speech as well. All things considered he sounded pretty good and the delays were probably just him being meaningful/thoughful in his remarks.

Re: What's up with Joe Walsh?

From about 2001 to 2003 I played in a band with a guy that talked just like Joe, had the same body language and looked enough like him to be a brother. Terry was just a couple of years this side of a life of heavy drug and alcohol abuse. I constantly had to watch him and be prepared to play lead when he failed to remember it was time to play lead.

Like Joe, he was a very creative, astute guitar player. Unlike Joe, he finally came unraveled.
