What's wrong with this picture? Gibson? Content

Re: What's wrong with this picture? Gibson? Content

and I am a ficus

Whoa..

Hey where on the planet were you twelve years back or so???

Some short, awkward kid named Ficus poached an awesome girl from right under my nose back in fall '05. It was a pretty massive shock.

And I've resented all ficuses ever since!!!

You're confusing the title "Professional" with "professionalism" (acting/being professional).

For example, Jim Bob can pound a nail through a 2x4 all day long with professional results. Sometimes he charges people to do this.

However, he doesn't do this for a living; it merely supplements his income (as a pizza delivery guy).

But that doesn't make Jim Bob a Professional Nail Pounder... rather, his work/effort is of professional quality.

But then, Jim Bob saves up his pennies, gets a business loan, gets a business license, gets insured, quits his pizza delivery job and opens up a shop on the corner. He offers his services to the public as a professional nail pounder, and works full-time running his business.

Business is good, and Jim Bob makes a living with his new business.

Jim Bob is now a Professional Nail Pounder.

Some examples of actual Professional Musicians: Edgar Winter, Yngwie Malmsteen, James Brown, Tiny Tim, Peter Frampton

In his spare tine Hank Garbo invented a pickup that combined a double inverted wizzy doodle and a fimklestein he put it in a humbucker package. It was so good Claymoore Stumpman Co. Inc bought the license and sells them by the oodles. Hank gets a good income from the Wizzy-Stein but his real job is designing and building pianos. He still works as an adviser providing clarity to dumb guitarists who don't understand the basic knowledge of pickup functionality that he gained in his spare time Wizzy-Stein invention. however his real income source is his piano business. Hank is a professional guitar pickup scientist even though the activity is just a hobby and not his primary source of income.

Nothing weird about keeping people honest to ensure less forum BS.

The point is that:
1. this thread was about a guitar
2. my 'honest' and and yours and everyone else's are different.
3. in the end, who cares? as long as someone isn't playing free gigs in town and bringing prices down for everyone, I don't care what they call themselves.

Discourse 101:

Not everything stated is opinion.

Some statements are opinion... other statements are fact.

When someone states a fact, it's not their opinion.

There is a difference, and intelligent people can differentiate between the two.

When someone makes a non-factual statement (whether intentional or out of ignorance), it needs to be corrected.

Accuracy and truth, sadly, aren't valued much anymore.

And someone has appointed you the arbiter of the alternative facts on this forum?

It's not that accuracy and truth aren't valued, it's that you have no definitive proof of anything you are claiming. Facts only become facts when you can't refute them. Example I can see a cat on the side of the road and say that it's dead, because it unfortunately is starting to rot away. I cannot say with certainty that my friend forgot to feed his cat though and that its now dead.

The fact that we have to explain to you the difference between what you believe and what you can prove is some hardcore cognitive dissonance on your part.

Anyone know exactly where that photo was taken? That looks an awful lot like my Mr. Whiskers. I miss him dearly.

Fact, I am still waiting for this guy to state a fact.
