I voted Boogie. What I really like about Mesa is the fact that I get tones I really like for the style I play (Recto), but amps that they have designed for other styles (i.e. - F series and Lone Stars, even the Stilettos) sound so good that I enjoy playing on those as well. I am not a fan of country but when you plug single coils or a tele style guitar into an F series, its really fun to play. I haven't ever experienced that with any other amp company. If they have a model I like, great, but usually, I don't like playing on all of the amp models in their line.

- I have to add that I Bogner is a really close competitor for my favorite amp manufacturer (all Bogners are magical in their own rite also)

FENDER, i'll be happy with "any" of the all valve units.


A special mention has to go to the Marshall Bluesbreaker (18watter)

Engl, Brunetti and Koch are my favourites.

I have never tried a Marshall that I liked. Mesa/Boogie is too "grainy" for my taste. And I think they are ridiculously expensive. Line 6 just doesn't do it for me. Orange I have never tried, but I have heard good things about them. I play a bit heavier, so I have never been interested in Fenders.

I've had Marshall, Fender, Ampeg and a few others. Although they are all fine amps, nothing will beat my '78 Boogie. I used to have to fight for tone from room to room ... the Boogie does the tone I envision ... no matter what the room or conditions ... for 28 years now. If the tone is not right ... it's me not the Boogie. Mine has the chassis signed by Randall Smith on 3/24/78 ... exactly 10 years prior to my son's birth ... on the same day. He's a guitarist too with an SG, Strat & Fender ... pretty cool huh?

Crate, because I use Crate. I also had a Fender J.A.M. brother of the Blues Jr.

Sold it though. Quite liked it.

Well they don't make guitar amps, but Gallien-Krueger would be my choice for top amp brand. When it comes to bass, nothing, and I mean NOTHING has come close to the thick, rich lows and the overall versatility that a GK amp can offer. In my 8 years of playing bass I have tried everything from Fender to SWR amps. I finally found a permanant home with GK five years ago.

For guitars my choice is either vintage Marshall tube amps or any Vox amp. However, I am eager to try an Ashdown Fallen Angel. If only there was a dominating guitar amp like GK is to bass.

I prefer the Fender Twin Reverb (obviously) but I like Marshalls and Vox's too, so long as they're tube and without onboard krap. Also, the peavey delta blues isn't bad either.

Puckboy99, I was wondering why you didn't mention the Edana in an earlier post...then I realized how old this thread was! Still, the Hiwatt was a great choice ( I have one myself).

I voted Marshall, but I hope to check out the Edana someday!

Mmmmm, loks like i am a bit late to this one !

Voted FENDER, 'cause i can vote for only one, right ?

Most of my heros/idols use either Fender or Marshall, and the rest of the guys that i like use more obscure amps (by todays standards), like the almighty Harmony's, Teisco's, Nationals, and all the budget amps of yesteryear !



EDIT :

. . . i would love to get my hands on an AMPEG, and see what i can get out of that brand - never heard a single bad word off them - sounds good to me !!!
