What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

I am fascinated by some of the opinions on here - so I have to ask what rigs you all use as of TODAY!

Feel free to tell us why you chose such a rig.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

For Gigs,

I take my Gibson SG and a Jackson SL1. Sometimes I take my Jackson KE3 as well.

I plug into:

a Dunlop Wah
to a Boss GE7
to a Boss DD3
to a Tubescreamer
to a morley AB Switcher

For smaller gigs I take my Line 6 or Marshall TSL100 and 1960AV
For Gigs that I can blast I take my TSL100 (1960 AV 412) and Mesa Triple Rectifier (VHT 412). I run my MPX1 in the effects loop of both the Mesa and TSL.

At home I usually just use my VHT amp and once in a while the others. I am thinking about a noise gate.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

I have more amps and guitars than I need!

I like to play through two amps in stereo and lately I've been using a pair of 60's Fender blackface Deluxe Reverb amps...each with a Celestion G12H30.

But I also own two late 50's Fender tweed Deluxe amps, each with a mid 60's Celestion G12 alnico speaker, and I like to play through those two amps too. Sometimes I'll use my '51 Fender Super with one of the Deluxes.

I use a Boss Stereo Reverb pedal or a Kendrick A/B/C box to split the signal.

For louder gigs, I'll be using a pair of Matchless amps: one Chieftan and one SC-30, each with a single Celestion Vintage 30.

My favorite guitars are my '54 Tele with Joe Barden pickups and my '88 Fender MIJ Strat which has two Antiquity Surfer pickups and one Duncan Custom Shop alnico 2 Tapped Tele Hot pickup in the bridge position.

I also love my homebrew '57 Strat that has a pair of Antiquity Surfers and a bridge Antiquity Texas Hot Custom that's almost 10K!

I'm been having a great time lately with my dual humbucker Strat that has a neck Pearly Gates and a bridge Duncan Custom Trembucker.

I also play my '02 Gibson Historic 59 Reissue Les Paul sometimes which has a pair of Tom Holmes double cream humbuckers wound to the same vintage specs and Tom wound for Billy Gibbons...but I'm a Fender Strat and Tele guy for the most part.

I'll be putting the new Duncan Noiseless Stack Plus pickups in my Hamer Daytona for gigging. They're noiseless and sound very much like the pickups in my '63 Strat.

Speaking of my '63 Strat, it's a beauty but I rarely play it because the stock '63 bridge pickup is so weak compared to the Duncan custom shop pickups and Duncan Antiquitys I have in my other Strats.

I have lots of effects and pedals...but I rarely use anything except a guitar, cord and an amp. And something to split the signal to two amps if I want to play in stereo.

Without getting into it heavy, I can say that I use 5 different preamps, and I can select between them AND blend them. It's pretty cool. And the whole thing ends up with a combination of vintage tube power and solid state power, feeding 2x10's, 2x12's, and 1x15. I can vary the volume to each speaker cabinet, too. The preamps are as follows:

Tube:
Mesa/Boogie Quad Preamp (like a MKII, III, and IV hybrid)
Hughes & Kettner Attax
Crate TDP (way better than you'd think) :27:
Hughes & Kettner Metal Screamer (beefed up Cream Machine)

SS:
Two Rocktron Progaps. There's no good reason for two, but they're different versions and they sound different. And the original one was modded at the factory. Plus it helps to facilitate some of my wierd blending stuff.

The brains of the rig (not used for any preamp/overdrive) is the Digitech 2101. It sounds great and is intuitively designed, and I'm used to it. Then I have various midi switchers, a Rocktron ProQ for hyper EQ, BBE's, and an old Quadraverb I can loop in for some Kings X chorus and a smooth sounding Leslie.

Everything is true bypassable, so I can basically go from guitar to amp to speakers if I want. Or I can add in the fx boxes.

I'm liking the Mark Tremonti wah I just got, and I have the typical modded TS and Super Overdrive.

It's basically a ridiculously huge version of a Pod! :smack:

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

Check my sig. Though I'm dying to add a Charvel or a Jackson, all USA of course, to that list.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

It depends. Lately I've been going through a Marshall AVT (it's not mine, so I don't know the model.) I usually use some kind of dirt pedal or boost (depending on my mood as to which one I use -- fav is a TS-10.) I'm in a new band, and the rest of my effects will depend on what tunes we will be playing.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

LTD-1000 (custom/PGn) -> stratdeluxer modified Boss sd-1 -> JCM 800 4210

For more brutal things I'll use a Stratdeluxer modified DS-1 instead of the sd-1...

That's it for me...

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

My current rig for gigging is:

Orange AD30 Single Channel head

Orange 4x12 or Marshall 4x12 (depends on venue)

Gordon Smith Graduate 60 (LP Clone) - Bareknuckle Black Dog and Riff Raff Pickups

1993 Fender USA Standard Strat - Bareknuckle Crawler/Irish Tour/Irish Tour pickups

'Browcaster' 1970s Jap Strat - Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups

1998 Gibson LP Standard (as soon as I replace the pickups)

My current pedalboard is:

Spina modded Vox Wah--BOSS TU2 Pedal Tuner--Fulltone Fulldrive II--G2D Custom Overdrive--Spina Modded TS9 Tubescreamer--BOSS CE5 Chorus Ensemble--Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo--Fulltone Fat Boost

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

live stuff...using mostly Gibsons these days (LP R6, LP Special, older 335, a few 40's/50's Gibson or Guild archtops)...I drag an old 80's RI Strat around, but almost never use it. Big strings, heavy picks, high action...

..into a '54 Deluxe/'56 Twin/'59 Pro/'60 Bandmaster/FMI BF Pro Reverb depending on the gig...the only pedal I use is an old Morley analog reverb.

recording...almost anything goes.

Brian moore c907p and c90p.

mesa triaxis, mesa 2:90, a mesa thiele ported cab and a mesa 3/4 back cab (both with EV speakers). in the rack is an FX unit, compressor and BBE sonic maximizer that i don;t use much).

i process the piezo signal with my digitech GNX3... a little eq, reverb and delay... then out to the PA.

I use a DMC Ground control for midi switching, and a couple of EB mini volume pedals for CC of various parameters.

works for me.

here's almost everything.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

Since I seriously cut my rig back these days, here's my very short list.

86 Squier MIJ 57RI strat with 2 70's Fender single coils and for the moment a Razor vintage style in the bridge.

I run my acoustic with a woody.

and it's all run through a 51 Gibson GA-30. Acoustic goes through the mic input so I can crank it without it distorting like it would through the instrument inputs.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

Burny Les Paul Custom - Custom bridge/'59 neck (Hard Rock)
57 Goldtop Reissue - Alnico Pro II Bridge/59 neck (Hard Rock/Blues)
Tokai Les Paul - BroBucker bridge/59 neck (Hard Rock/Blues)
Les Paul Jr. - Fralin P-90 (Hard Rock/Blues)
Warmoth Strat - Fralin Vintage Hots (Blues)
Fender MIJ 60's Strat - EMG 81 bridge/EMG 85 neck (Metal)
Warmoth Mustang - C5 (Hard Rock)
Charvel 475 - EMG 81 (Metal)

Cable

Amps:
Voodoo Amps modded JCM800 2203 (Rock)
Fender Super Reverb (Blues)

Oh...and a Tubescreamer for the Super Reverb.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

my main rig is my i88.13 into my 1x12" solid state fender deluxe 90 (electric) and into my carvin ag-100D (piezo and roland gr-33 synth) ... i use the tele clone when needed (maybe one song per set) and keep the 540s as hot spare to the electric (i'd be s.o.l. if the piezo or synth crapped on me - no spares) ... i'd like to have more gigs where the prs and am-50 were called for, but they aint happenin' .. my bigger rig is my rocktron rack (pro gap / intellifex) into carvin dcm600 into (2) boogie 1x12"cabs ... just not playing big enough rooms to justify haulin' all that around these days

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

I use an LTD M-200FM with EMG-ESPs (adequate for now, but those are the stock pups), and a Dean Custon Freddy Krueger strat style guitar with one humbucker and a lone volume knob w/ a floyd rose licensed, coil tap and a Duncan Distortion. I had an Epiphone G-400 with a JB/59 combo, but sold it to my other guitarist because he had his guitar stolen. I use a Line 6 Spider II 212, and for a pedal I use the Line 6 uber Metal pedal.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

I really scaled down my rig. Now its just my Guitar, a Eq pedal, a Big Muff, and a Flanger. Thats it!

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

I'd say for most of the time, I am running:

Ibanez JS1000BP
Ibanez WD7
Mesa Boogie Mark III

But if I am going for straight metal, it's the RG7620. Looking to swap pups in the ESP Mirage Custom, and use that for 80s hair metal.

But the JS is my jack of all trades, it can do everythin really well, except for metal. Still feeling out the SG.
