Where did all the SG owners go ?

Re: Where did all the SG owners go ?

I love my SG!

(the les paul in this pic is gone and a red strat has replaced it..the rest I still have)
I put the Bigsby and locking tuners on myself. I discovered a crack in the headstock this week and just got through repairing it (I dropped it off a stand a few weeks back :( )

Where you the one who was trying to figure out what the guitar on the right was ?( I think the thread was about a broken headstock...)

Re: Where did all the SG owners go ?

I love my SG's and actually like the 490/498 pups that came stock. The only ones I didn't like were to 490r/490t that came in my faded SG. Those were quickly swapped out for a pair of Tony Iommi pups. I tune this one down to C#...

I love SG's, one of the world's great guitar designs. Here's what I've used in mine:

- C5/'59N. Hot bridge for classic rock & Chicago blues.

- 498T (with an A4)/490R (with an A5). The magnets totally change the PU's tone. This guitar has a great late 1960's Brit blues/rock sound.

- 490T (with an A4)/490R (with an A5). Vintage PAF tone.

- '59B/'59N. Vintage PAF tone.

- '59B/Phat CatN. PAF bridge & fat, open-sounding P-90 neck. Great combo.

I'm going to try a PG set in my new SG, but suspect that I'll end up putting an A3 in the PGN for a little extra definition in the neck.

Yes I was. I think I've got it narrowed down. I'm fairly sure it's an overseas (probably japanese) copy of a Gretsch TK-300

Gibson SG Classic w. P-90s

Plug it into a treble booster, then into the Normal channel of an AC-30. Crank the volume on the AC-30. Tasty.

Re: Where did all the SG owners go ?

I've got a G400 if that counts. I know there is more than one thread about SG pickups... My favorite combo is the C5/Jazz. C5 and the SG are a match made in tonal heaven.

I'll have to ask about it in my local store this week-end !

Thank You
