Where you do stand on wrapping strings with locking tuners?

Don't you know? Nylon Strings should be tied with a fisherman's not on acoustic machine heads.

I was referring to tying the stings on the bridge. But yes, it is even more disturbing when people knot the string on the headstock pegs. There is an art to tying on nylon strings properly.

^ This is the way I do it. I also wrap the traditional way on a nylon string headstock. BTW, that is something that needs an update, tradition be damned. Put an engineer who isn't a guitarist on it, and we'll get a better design.

Ball end nylon strings are available, addressing half the problem, but I still buy tie-ons. I find it somewhat cathartic braiding them onto the bridge.

I think the last time I strung up a nylon acoustic was when I worked at a shop in Northern California. That's where I learned how to tie them at the bridge like that and also tying them right at the tuner. Doubt I could do it correctly now. That was almost 30 years ago.

Need a tuner that knots and wraps and locks itself. Robot tuners? Oh yeah.... carry on.

I, for one, think that those newfangled nylon strings were a step too far and we should go back to using cat gut.
