Either amp is fine. Both are decent workable amps. The Peavey, to me, is a bit more versitile. You can get into the game with distortion with a Gov'2 or Silver Dragon. You can get a workable distortion from a number of pedals, including the inexpesive Boss pedal. While a common sound, not really Marshall.
The Fender will stay cleaner longer in my experience, if you need louder clean sounds.
