which footswitch do I get for my mesa?

Re: which footswitch do I get for my mesa?

It looks like it gives instructions on which one you need based on whether it has a bias select switch and a raw mode on channel two, and where they are on your amp. Does that not show up when you go to the page?

it does but I do not understand what it means :(

Re: which footswitch do I get for my mesa?

I think mine is the first one since mine has no raw mode or whatever

Re: which footswitch do I get for my mesa?

Do you see how on your amp, you can choose different modes for your channels? Your clean channel should have a clean mode and a pushed mode, and your 2nd channel should have two or three of those modes. Vintage, modern, and maybe raw. Can you confirm?

mine doesn't have raw, BUT this store doesn't ship to Canada so it doesn't matter now lol.

Re: which footswitch do I get for my mesa?

If it doesn't have a raw mode, it looks like you need the series one switch when you find it. Good luck!

Re: which footswitch do I get for my mesa?

Make sure voodooman's version is for your version... if they're not the same they won't work. Just FIY, I had to build a custom one for my series I rectoverb since no vendor shipped to Canada... you can find the thread here.

BTW: if your footswitch requires a 1/4'' jack it'll be easy to build (or buy a non-mesa replacement). However, if it's midi-style multi-pin, it'll be a bit trickier.

hmm, I might ask my dad if he would like to attempt this with me... seems like a fun project to do... and mine is a 1/4" so yay lol

Easy project indeed, pm me if you need pointers.
On the other end you could just go to l&m and buy an apex footswitch (16$ for a single button, 21$ for 2 buttons) and be done with it...

I would rather do the work, first hand experience, and custom options out the wazoo lmao

where did you get all the wires and stuff? sorry if you said it in your thread...

Well, not much you can customize on a Fs except for the looks...
Still, I really get the fun of diy.

All you need can be obtained at Tayda electronics (great prices). Otherwise your local electronics shop has all that too.

Re: which footswitch do I get for my mesa?

CALL the guys at Mesa...they can hook you up to the right pedal for your amp.

Re: which footswitch do I get for my mesa?

probably another bad question, but where did you acquire the schematics?

How many functions do you have on the switch? Just channel switching or is there a boost? (So one or 2 buttons?).

There's no need for a schematic since it's just a 1/4 jack. Each function will be activated by shorting the tip (or ring if you need a stereo jack for two functions) to the ground (sleeve). Breaking the connection to ground will disable the function / switch channel the other way.

just look at the thread I limked you to, everything you need is in there, just imagine that you have a 1/4 jack (either mono or stero) rather than a 5 pin conector. My diagram even shows how you need to connect things to each switch...

Re: which footswitch do I get for my mesa?

what diodes would I use? I cannot seem to find that info....

Re: which footswitch do I get for my mesa?

By diodes you mean Led(light-emitting diodes)?
Get any that you like. I prefer the 5mm ultra-bright ones myself. Might wanna get plastic or metal bezel (mounting piece for the led) to facilitate and solidify its installation...
