Which guitar you own is your favorite

I know most of you if not all have more than one guitar. Some of them get a lot more love than others. Honestly I have some for purpose, some for nostalgia, and some I just couldn't pass up. I even have one I stumbled upon last year that has replaced all others, and I didn't even see it coming.

GIbsons, Fenders, Jackson's, Guilds, I've pretty much at one time or another owned every brand I've wanted. When I was young and didn't have a lot of money, it was maybe two guitars. With the old one in, one out. My first really good guitar was a 1979 Alpine White Les Paul Custom. Just like Randy's down to the knobs. I was making $4.25 an hour and found it in a music store in the middle of nowhere for $550. I gave the guy my whole paycheck to hold it. I paid it off in a little over a month. I ate ramen, kept enough for gas and a nickel bag. The rest went to the music store. When I got it home, I literally slept with it every night.

Fast forward, it's gone. A casualty of finding an original Rich Stealth, made by Bernie himself. Even that's gone due to finding a 1969 Marshall 100w Plexi, which you guessed it is far and away. I never even sold it. I dropped it off at a music store for repair, and the guy closed up shop in the middle of the night and took it. As well as many other people's gear. Apparently he owed the IRS a substantial amount of money, and rather than pay he just moved on. I never got it back, or saw him again. Obviously.

Last count I've owned over 38 different guitars. Not counting the 8 I currently own. I finally got sick of selling to buy, and learned to be patient instead of impulsive. I've got nice, solid, quality gear now. Guitars I'm proud of. No so much because of what they are, but because they are mine. Ones I've wanted, not just had to settle for. With age comes wisdom. Though honestly I would not trade all those guitars going thru my hands for anything in the world. Some people ever only own one. I am blessed, and not bragging. Believe you me, not every one was a jem, but it was mine at the time and I loved it just the same.

My favorite now is a 1999 Les Paul Classic 1960. It has some dings, and dents. The lacquer is a little chipped around the edge of the top near the back. Plain top, Honey Burst. Nothing special to look at to anyone but me. Inlays have the green tinge some people complain about in the right light. 496R and 500T pickups. Bone stock. But I love it just the same. We're a lot alike. Bruised, battered, but not broken and have a lot of character. Not the best, but dependable. LIke an old friend. I played a $5000 R9, and it didn't even compare in MY eyes. Not because it wasn't mine, because it wasn't loved.

Used guitars are like shelter dogs, they just want love and a home. They'll pay you back in spades, and become your best friend. New ones glossy and glamorous as they are with their case candy, certificates of authenticity, and everything else that comes with them are great. I've owned a few but I've always rooted for the underdog. Everyone deserves to be a winner and be loved, even old pawnshop guitars. If you've got one, show it to us and some love. If it's new, keep playing it and it'll get there. Nothing help give a guitar a personality, and a soul better than love and time. My Paul like me shows it's age. Probably one more fret leveling, and time for a refret. No matter, I love it just the same.

About 17 years ago, I bought a used Music Man Silhouette Special. It had a big chip in the bottom, so it was pretty cheap, but it was the perfect guitar for me. I had the neck scalloped, put in 2 humbuckers with some fancy 5-way wiring, and it is still the most perfect guitar for me. It is light, and balanced, and sounds great with any amp.

Find a pic and post it. Everyone has to have baby pictures.

Sweet. I'd take it for a spin. Probably a lot more guitar than I can handle, but it'd be fun. Nice find.

My 1994 reissue Ibanez Iceman. This was the test run model produced before completely reintroducing it back into the market. Ive read there were only 500 of those made but deciphering the serial, looks like there may have been closer to 800 made. There were made especially for the Japanese market, slightly smaller body, wider binding. Love it, needs some fret work Ive been putting off, otherwise love how it plays and feels.

I own a '93 Les Paul Classic 1960. The 1960 is just about worn off the pickguard at this point. But it is not my favorite.

My favorite is my '96 Epiphone Les Paul Classic. It has a TB-5 Custom in the bridge and a SH-2n Jazz in the neck. It has been my number one since I started playing Les Pauls.

I'm a Plain Top guy, but if that's not the nicest quilt I've ever seen. Reminds me of snake scales. Tbh I'm surprised they actually sent it to the Epi factory, and didn't send it to the custom shop. Great find!

My other Paul is a 2015 Plain Top Traditional. (Not a 100)
It's my Bill Gibbons guitar. Seymour Duncan Antiquities, RS vintage electronics set with oil in paper capacitors. I know he uses Pearly Gates pickups. But Antiquities are closer to the one on the actual guitar. Think ZZ Top's First Album.

Sweet! Love the Marshall too! I found a Bugera Trirec I. Watertown NY. It's about a 2 hour drive away, but I'm thinking about making the trip. I have a Line 6 Vetta HD w/longboard now, but miss that tube sound.

I'm sure you have a go to guitar. I love all mine as well, but lets just say strapping on my 6/12 BC Rich Bich is not an everyday thing.

I really don't. I may like some for certain things more than others but the guitars themselves, I like them and think they are all winners or else I wouldn't have bought them. I could grab any guitar and be happy. My (Good Problem) is that I have way too many to pick from.

Body is a 2002 or 2006 Fender MIM strat.
Pickup is a SD Pearly Gates or EVH ‘78 depending on the day (they’re pretty similar really)
Most notable is probably the solid rosewood fender USA neck. That feel is amazing. Definitely my #1 and planning to keep it that way.

Same here. I love all of mine. Sure, there may be a couple I play more than others but for the most part, I'm happy playing any of them. So yeah, it's a good problem to have.

I have a 2007 70s Classic Series MIM in Tobacco Sunburst that I really don't show enough love to. I love the big headstock and bullet truss rod. Think Richie Blackmore. I don't have the heart to mod it, if I ever did yours would be the way to go. Love the single humbucker look. Sweet guitar!
