for me it would be an epiphone lp jr i purchased when i was 14 (so about 5 years ago) as a first guitar, i dont know the neck shape but it's kinda thin in the width side and it feels pretty nice even with having large hands.

everything on it is russted except the machine heads but it still plays alright when it's not plugged in (pickup doesnt work though and all of the pots are dead)

Warmoth Fatback profile! 1" to 1" all the way down the neck.

also if anyone wants to be cool and tell me how to remove the sticker off hte guitar without damaging it or the guitar id appreciate it ;)

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

the only guitar I've kept so far and still like is the EJ Strat I picked up a little over a year ago, great playing neck. I'm also liking the neck on the Les Paul studio vintage mahogany I bought (once I hit it with 600 grit sandpaper and smoothed it out some).

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

PRS wide/fat. I'll sing praises on that profile till I die. Most comfortable neck profile I've ever played.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

Ibanez JS-1000(ore whatever modelnumber it was), probably the the best feeling neck i can think of.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

I'm quite weird with necks. I have a distinct idea of what I want in a neck, but I haven't really found one like it yet. Luckily I can play with almost anything. But so far my favourite has been my 2004 50th strat or my sg standard neck. The ESP m-II neck is nice as well but the fretboard is too flat for chording.

Jimmie Vaughan Strat neck.Soft V that flattens out, butter smooth satin poly finish. Soak the sticker with plenty of WD40 if it's paper type, if vinyl, warm it up with a blow dryer and slowly peel off, rub the glue off with WD40 on soft rag.

...probably some Ibanez Wizard somewhere.

That said, the neck on my Mustang feels about perfect... fairly thin, wide, flat back (no V shape whatsoever), right scale ;) god I have V necks.

Kramer Nightswan neck.

24frets, 24,75". Medium Jumbos, very narrow (1-9/16"), 10" radius and ebony fretboard. Smooth and nice neck, not a typical shredder neck though.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

As long as the shape is comfortable, I can probably adapt to it. I find that it's necessary to be able play all sorts of guitar, and not be hampered by details like neck shape, or fret sizes.

One of the best feeling necks I own is a used Allparts V neck that I bought from Rich Rice of Rice Custom Guitars. Rich reshaped the V so it's milder. It's a very natural feeling, well set up neck. It's on my MIJ with humbuckers, and I play that one almost every day.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

Probably a toss up between my Peavey 'Cropper' Classic and the PRS wide/fat on my Cu22. I would really like to try a McCarty with the Indian rosewood neck though.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

The slim taper neck of my Les Paul-SG 1961 is the most comfortable I´ve ever played. I got quite small hands so fatter and wider necks are less so, even if I have a newer Gibson with a rounded -59 neck, and a Strat with a wide flat neck.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

Hands down, the neck on my Quicksilver. By a mile beyond anything else I've ever played. I may not necessarily agree with all of Ed Roman's politics or people skills, but his staff sure makes some fine guitars. I've actually owned two QS's (one with Tone Pros TOM-style fixed bridge, which I sold, and my current one, with an OFR), and though the neck profiles were different (the older one was slightly thinner), they all come standard with what he calls the "1500G mod", which involves a blend of oils and the use of 1500-grit sandpaper, IIRC. All I know is that it's the smoothest, slickest, and most comfortable neck I've ever played.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

My Japanese Stang, best felt neck ever

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

the couple of guitars ive built myself. they all have necks from usacg, 2 of them all rosewood, 12" fretboard and hard v back contour with vintage size frets. the one im working on just now has a neck which is on the way as we speak, same specs except this one is all flamed maple.

i love the size and shape of it, it fits in my hand perfectly. so for me, those are the best playing necks ive ever laid my hands on

Peavey Wolfgang, one of those unfinished things, just feels right.

Im good friends with theSpricket outside of the forum. He has a japanese fender antiqua reissue that has the smoothest feeling neck i've ever played.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

Warmoth Fatback profile! 1" to 1" all the way down the neck.

Warmoth Boat profile for me. 1" to 1" all the way down the neck.

My Frankenstrat neck has that profile. A close second is the SRV Strat neck. A close third is the Fender Iron Maiden Strat neck. My D-28 has an amazing feeling neck. I'd love to get a bolt-on electric neck just like it.

My '54 Tele. It was refretted with medium frets and a new bone nut a few years ago and it's the best playing guitar I've ever owned. The shape is like a fat V. Sort of like the small end of an egg. Best neck shape for me of any acoustic guitar I've owned is my Collings OM. Lew
