which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

It would be a toss up between an old 60's Hagstrom or an old 60's Vox bolt on from the Tempest, Hurricane and Spitfire series. Slim and fast, great tuners and VOX had a few maple necks as I remember.

They always had nice medium frets too......

The smooth feel of my American Deluxe Strat. Mmmmm...:notworthy

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

I don't know really, but pretty much every modern Fender I pick up works for me.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

My '87 LP Custom. It has a relatively fat, but nicely tapered neck profile. Similar to some '58 LP Standards I've encountered over the years.

The next best was an early Jeff Beck Strat that had the tree trunk neck. Loved it.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

I have an SG that I bought in '68 that feels very comfortable in my hands, but I think thats mainly because I have had so many years playing it. My favorite neck of all my guitars are my Santa Cruz OM, and my black Clapton Strat. All my Strats have 6105 fret wire in them which makes them a little more comfortable to play.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

My RG1550 has the best feel of any guitar i've played.

I like the Fender USA strats for a "warp-round" feel too, but i'd pick my Ibby as THE best.

It's a prestige neck, 19mm @ 1st fret & 21mm @ 12th fret.

I wanna play the Super Wizard neck which is 16mm @ 1st fret & 18mm @ the 12th!!!

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

I think the more guitars you've sunk into over time, the less it matters. There may be some profiles that I don't like, but then, I wouldn't own them. ie, overly fat or skinny.

My hands are mostly used to Fender Am Std, Gibson 50's, and PRS wide/fat. I didn't used to like slim 60's, but I'm growing to like it.

So my answer is. I don't care. It doesn't matter. I like all my guitars. There is no best.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

Necks are incredibly personal.

Some people go gaga over only one. Others feel comfortable on anything. Personally, I love my Charvel Standard.

But, I also love my Carvin Fatboy, Gibson 50's, and my Charvel Fusion...

They're all different, but I love each of them (otherwise, I'd sell them).

Oh well...

Aloha

Nothing is better for me than the neck of a Music Man Silhouette Special. :notworthy

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

it was on a USA hamer standard, in natural finish IIRC. great looking guitar, unbelievable neck. nice and fat, but extremely comfortable.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

I like the huge neck on my '07 G&L, Comanche Studio VI.

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

best neck shapes i have and love is a 1987 Charvel model 1..... and my 88 American Standard Strat... my Fender has a fat neck compared to newer USA Series and Standards.... it feels great... maybe it feels so thick because teh finnish is super thick as well!!!

the Charvel has the nicest neck shape.... it's large, wide and fat... but the shape of it fits my hand well....

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

also if anyone wants to be cool and tell me how to remove the sticker off hte guitar without damaging it or the guitar id appreciate it ;)

You're best bet is to soak it in naptha or lighter fluid, let it seep through and then carefully peel it off. You won't be able to stick it to anything else without adding your own adhesive though. This won't damage the finish at all though

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

I love my Epiphone LP's neck, thinner than a Gibson and a nice D shape. I'm not really big on Fender V and C shapes, the Epi can do it all from chording to riffing and leads.

is there anyway to do it while keeping the adhesive intact? like just weakining it enoughto pull it off and stickk it on another guitar,

it's beeon on that guitar for almost 5 years so it's held up pretty well compared to the rest of the guitar

the neck on my epi is rEALLY REALLY small, like it's the smallest full size guitar neck i've ever played

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

Lp Standard with round neck. I like the feel of round neck but still can shred with it. Set the string medium high i can bend string waill. :smokin:

Re: which guitar you've owned/played has the best feeling neck

Easy; the rosewood neck on my mccarty.........it's now broken in and feels like polished stone!
