Who cuts strings when changing them?

Although I no longer own one, I used to have a string-through body. PITA if you don't cut the pig's tail.

I cut them but I change one string at a time. Cut restring tune...then next string.
I cut cause you figure unwrapping them over the life of the tuning peg unwraping every single string change thats allot of turns on them gears.
However if I had just put say a high E on I might unwrap if Im planning on saving it for a spare.

Depends on the guitar/tuner/bridge style. With Klusons, just release tension and lift. But then I cut the pig-tail off to remove the string. I usually remove all. Never had a problem with that short term tension release.

If it's a rosewood board I take all the strings off and condition it, very dry out here. But yeah, even on maple boards I remove all the strings and clean, then restring. Never had an issue, and most of my guitars have floyds.

I typically unwind them, cut by the bridge, replacing one at a time.

If the guitar needs cleaning, I'll unwind all, then cut by the bridge, clean, condition the fretboard, replace the strings, heaviest first.

I just unwind them and pull them out. I think cutting them is too much shock.

I have cut them before (after unwinding them) on guitars I want to make sure I don't scratch the finish on, but that's pretty rare.

That's how I do it. A sudden tension release isn't good.
