Who really loves the Gibson color of "Heritage Cherry"?

I didnt like it until I found an LP special for 3 bones back in the ATL.

The solid Heritage Cherry can look great...if it done right. The '61 version of the SG and the faded red of the Historic VOS SG Reissue look pretty good to me, but on some of the other models it is the wrong shade of red. The Cherry color on the current 335 models is totally wrong...my Gibson rep and I had a laugh about that the other day. The 335 '63 Block, the 345 and the 339 are closer, but none of them look like a new model from back in the day...or even what those guitars look like 40 to 50 years later.

Here's a pic of some of my Pauls:

I've got two HCSB Pauls, a Supreme and a Classic 1960 Premium Plus. These guitars are simply stunning to look at, due to the 3-dimensional depth of the flames and the subtle gradations of color as the burst moves from red to tangerine to yellow. The human eye is a wonderful thing...it is very difficult to see that subtlety in a photo. When Gibson does a HCSB right, it is gorgeous...when it is wrong..yeah, it's a clownburst!

Those are Duncan 50th Anniversary A2 Seth Lovers in the Classic 1960, btw.

I also have a '59 Plaintop Reissue in the Washed Cherry, and well...it's plain in comparison.

And the Tom Morgan Artist Classic Antique I have from the 2007 GOTW Series is just wacky! But man, that's the one all the ladies go ga-ga over! So strange! It's a HCSB--but the girl got her makeup on wrong!

My other Pauls are a Root Beer Supreme, Fireburst Classic Antique, Honeyburst Classic 1960, Iced Tea R9, Peacock Blue Elegant, and two of the Guitar Center 1960 Tobaccoburst VOS G0 Models.

The one Gibson red I don't care for is the Wine Red. Looks great on others' guitars...but it's not for me.

Does anyone know the official rgb or pantone number of the Gibson heritage cherry?

Well you should have been clear at the beginning. There's Heritage Cherry, and Heritage Cherry Sunburst.

Maybe it's just me but I feel like any Gibson that comes in that color it's like "eh bummer, nice guitar but it's got the most generic color that Gibson makes". Am I nuts?

The cherry on my 1969 345 TDC is the most gorgeous color on earth. So, yeah, you must be nuts.

(Just kidding.......about the nuts part). Thank goodness each of us sees things a bit differently and we have our own peculiar likes and dislikes
