Whole Lotta Love

Just wanna say "thanks" to Seymour for these. I dont care about the backstory and which guitar or when or whomever used them. They just flat out sound great, you could rock out on the bridge and do a BeBop gig no problem on the neck pickup with a proper amp. 50s wiring really makes this set incredibly versatile.

Ive had them in and out of a couple guitars over 10 months or so and in my #1 Les Paul they just may be the best humbucker set I have purchased. They pretty much do everything I want/need- they give me most of what I love about my T-top clones as well as characteristics I like from various modern PAF repros.. Most people here know I am a nitpicky bastard, but I really can't find anything negative to say about these. At one point I felt like they were starting to sound a bit harsh to my ears over time, but it turned out to be the insane bias drift issue with my DSL. :boggled:

Awesome stuff.

Everyone go buy a set. :D

Re: Whole Lotta Love

I have a WLH on the neck of an Epi LP (with a SH-16b). Those pus are so good, they made that guitar sound better than my Gibson LP with 57s. So I took the chance, put a set of Seth Lovers on the market -they were too tamed for my taste- and found a guy who offered me a set of WLHs. We made the transaction a couple of weeks ago. Will be throwing the WLHs in the LP soon.

Re: Whole Lotta Love

I'm running two sets currently; one in a PRS Korina SE, and the other in a PRS Custom 22 Artist (magnet flipped in the bridge). I can't see either of them coming out, ever. I have another set spare, but I'm not too sure where they'll end up. I'm thinking they'd go very nicely in the McCarty I don't own yet... :D

Re: Whole Lotta Love

Yeah. the WLH set is not just a mag swap away in a 59. They are quite different winds.

Re: Whole Lotta Love

Good to hear. I have a UK set of WLH coming and now I'm as excited as ever after reading this thread.

please come tomorrow... please come tomorrow... please come tomorrow...

Re: Whole Lotta Love

The Whole Lottas would be Holy Grail if they had A4s in em..

In my #2, I think that or a3n/a4b would cure the issues that particular guitar has. But I've decided to load that one up with distortions and give it to my son.

Re: Whole Lotta Love

How about in terms of the quality and amplitude (attitude?) of the B/M/T/Output?

Re: Whole Lotta Love

If you do blues/bues rock/classic rock, the WLHs are beautiful. Way better than the pickups that come stock in most guitars that are used for those styles.

Re: Whole Lotta Love

I know my bandmate would love these. I keep telling myself I don't need new pickups, and I really don't. Quite happy with how my guitars are dialed in.

Re: Whole Lotta Love

I think if.you lean to the harder side of classic rock and into 70s heavy music. the whole lotta set is the way to go. and that is me.

if you lean to the bluesier side of classic rock and/or the 60s....then pearlies or Seths are probably going to be a better choice.

OK, so I fibbed a little. The JB in my Baretta is a bit hot for what I need these days and I like what I am reading / hearing about these. The WLH is definitely on the list to toss in the old Kramer.
