whose your favorite telecaster player?

Re: whose your favorite telecaster player?

Yeah, definitely Brent Mason.

I haven't really heard Danny Gatton. Can anyone recommend which album is a good one to start with?

Re: whose your favorite telecaster player?

Favorite all around, Brent Mason, probably tied with Brad Paisley

High on my list:

James Burton
Keith Richards
Jimmy Page (Zep 1)
Marty Stuart
Roy Buchanan
George Harrison
Jimmy Olander
Rich Robinson
Albert Lee
Albert Collins
Muddy Waters

More I'm sure..........

I personally started with "Cruisin' Deuces". I liked that one very much. I then got "88 Elmira Street" I LIked that one better but he uses his ES-295 on that one too. Go to his website. You'll see a listing of his guitars and the tunes he played them on.

Danny Gatton

Tom Morello did some frighteningly heavy stuff with a Tele back with RATM (but I'm not a great fan of RATM, mainly because of their stance)

Teles are so great because with the right pickups and amp, you can have vitually any sound you want.

Re: whose your favorite telecaster player?

I'm a Steve Cropper and James Burton fan. Can't overlook Brent Mason either.

BUT...

Who can ever get enough of Jerry Reed???

THE HUMBLER!!!!!!!

hands down, one of the greatest gutiar albums ever

Re: whose your favorite telecaster player?

Jimmy Page, Muddy Waters, and I believe that Duane Allman played a tele before getting a les paul.

Re: whose your favorite telecaster player?

I've never heard him, but a friend of mine saw Danny Gatton a bunch of years ago in NYC at a small gathering in a club (I believe it was a bday party for Les Paul)

He said that there were many well known musicians on hand that also played, but Gatton blew everybody away, it wasn't even close. He told me that he's never seen anybody that could approach this guy just in terms of sheer playing ability.
