Anybody know how to keep hardtail guitars from going out of tune constantly besides just keeping fresh stings on 'em? That's the only thing I hate about owning a guitar with a standard bridge. Thanks.

Have you tried all the regular stuff, like penciling the slots on the nut, proper stretching of the string?

And then changing tuners? Maybe top wrapping the bridge?

I have to say, in all seriousness, I think Ace frehley said it best:

There is nothing like a Les Paul through a Marshall for that hard rock sound.

Curiously enough, I remember an old Marty Friedman interview where he said the exact same thing.

That on your career you'd try all sorts of brands of amps and guitars and shapes and whatnot,
only to be inevitably drawn to a LP and a Marshall sooner or later because that's THE sound we all want.

And indeed, he was a Jackson endorser for many years, then he went to Ibanez, then he had a short stint with PRS,
and now he's using lots of old Gibson LPs live.
He also was a serious promoter of the Crate Blue Voodoo and that 300W monstrosity Crate used to do, and now he's using Marshall JVMs live too.

I want his gear.

I kinda got into Led Zeppelin at the same time as i got into GN'R.

So naturally i tended to look more at Les Pauls. And this was in a time (1997/88) when the pointy hair metal movement was in full swing over here. 95% of all guitars was pointy shredders. I remember seeing 5 Vai sig models haning next to one another. That is a lot for my city.

I will have a Les Paul (Gibson) again one day. Sold my Epi LP.
