You can't judge a guitar just based on the stock setup and electronics. If you threw in a '59/JB or a PG/Custom set, it would probably sound great.

look for some good PAF like pickups and you should have a good sounding V. PAFs or p90's are always good pickups for those guitars as far as I am concerned.

i'm thinkin like P-Rails in the bridge, with the push/pulls on the knobs to control that crazy thing, then a Phat Cat in the middle and a 59 in the neck and then i DARE you to find a more capable electric guitar.
Classic and vintage-stylee yet totally metal. Hot humbuckers, cool ones, and P90's galore. Not too complicated but totally versatile. Matches your tuxedo...
