Welcome to the forum!

How many HBs do you want to wire, 2?
What kind of a switch do you have? 3 way toggle?
Assuming you have LP, Jimmy Page wiring would be good start for you.
Or you can get the triple shots and only worry about a phase reverser.

Re: wiring new guitar with dpdt switches

what are triple shots? what i put in the post is exactly what I am using, I don`t have room for push pull pots can you help me?

Seymour Duncan Triple Shots.
So you can do Series/Parallel/Split coil using switches on the pickup ring.

Push/pull pots would replace your volume and tone pots.
So you could have up to 4 of them, which gives you up to 4 on/on switches.

You didn't say what kind of guitar you were putting them into, but most people don't like adding new holes to their existing guitar.

What cakire82 was referencing with the Jimmy Page mod, was you wanting to use coil taps and phase reverse. The JP mod adds Series/Parallel between the pickups, as well, using 4 push/pull pots.

In terms of your particular wiring scheme, you might want to dig thru here.
There are a number of variations and it would be a great place to start from.

Good luck.

those are cool I wish I knew about them before I drilled the guitar for the 2 dpdt switches

Re: wiring new guitar with dpdt switches

you seem to know your stuff! would it be possible to draw up a diagram with my original question and one with the triple shots I know it a lot to ask I would understand if you don`t

Oppppsss!!! But hermetico is right you can still use one of them for putting both pups in series and the other one for phase reversing the one of the pups.
You can also use each of them for individually phase reversing each pup.

Unfortunately, i don't think anyone will be able to draw a diagram for you. Pretty much everyone here is busy with their own projects. You need to start from somewhere and ask us when you face a problem.

First of all, are you going to be using triple shots or not? And what type of a guitar exactly do you have? Is it a LP? Do you already have 3 way toggle on it right?

Re: wiring new guitar with dpdt switches

the guitar is one I just built from scratch, neck, and body everything thing but the ebony fret board

Re: wiring new guitar with dpdt switches

Are you going to be using triple shots or not?

So you have 2 tone, 2vols, 1 (3 way) toggle and 2 DPDTs (on/off/on )?

Re: wiring new guitar with dpdt switches

have dpdt on/on/on for pup sel, 2 dpdt on/off/ on for phase rev and coil tap wired up switches as push pull switch cant get all the tones i am supposed to get. no outside coils from pup 1&2

You totally lost me here. I am assuming you are not interested in the Triple shots, in this case here are couple sample for you to start with.

2 individual PPs for coil splitting. (you can use the DPDT instead of PP)

1PP for phase reversing (you can use the DPDT instead of PP)

Re: wiring new guitar with dpdt switches

here is the way its set up now and it doesnt seem right http://www.guitarelectronics.com/pr...ch2_Volumes2_TonesCoil_Tap_Reverse_Phase.html using two on/off/on switches for push pull
That shows 2 on/on switches(typical push/pulls).
With only one on/on/on you can only wire this as a "master" coil tap.
IOW, it works on both pickups at the same time.
So you can never get a single coil + humbucker combination... only humbucker+humbucker or single coile+single coil.

If you can get another on/on/on switch you can wire each of them up to control each pickup so that it works series/off/coil split.
That way you can turn either pickup on or off or put it into HB or SC.

Then just wire up your phase switch normally.
And you can turn that other on/off/on switch into a Series/off/Parallel switch between the 2 pickups.
