So I was rocking out my LP and rang out the D Minor chord (which by the way is the saddest of all keys) and all of a sudden, spontaneous combustion....

No they're not mine. I was just remembering all the threads about someone wanting a Gibson Les Paul and then getting trolled upon by basher's saying the headstock will break off... It's Wednesday, I'm tired and need a good laugh...

I tried finding pictures of people filling chambered Les Pauls with lead/sawdust/wood chips, etc but apparently they're not dumb enough to take pictures....

Number 2 and the last one may not be repairable.

The others may very well be fixable.

And I'm not amazed to see the breaks. What I'd REALLY like to see is HOW they happened!

That's kinda painful and frightening to see.

I'd really like to see what was done to cause that kind of damage. I've done some wild stuff and never had any damage close to that.

I'm guessing there are some Pete Towsnhend wanna bees out there.

It is sad to see. Any guitar is vulnerable to damage if you don't show it respect. Here's a thought, if you run around like an idiot and bang your guitar off of walls/objects it's probably going crack....

this is exactly why I prefer to get guitars whose necks have either tiny truss rod accesses, or a nice fat volute on the back.

Gibbys have neither of those.

My guess on all three is a face plant when some doofus got his foot tangled in the cord. All are easy fixes for a good luthier...they're all clean and relatively smooth, with no splinters.

The second and last one are definitely repairable, Aceman. I've seen breaks like that get fixed. The breaks look clean. In fact, I believe Octavedoctor repaired one just like one of those.

That Gibson fabled neck angle is a double-edged sword. A blessing for tone and a curse for broken headstocks.

Number three is the most iffy. Aside from that questionable one, they are all fixable, and they'll be better than new once the work is done.
