Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

My favorite guitar effect type? I am going to say a Wah, when tastefully used. This is important, as overdoig it, and not knowing how to use it well is something I see oh so often.

My favorite wah is the Dunlop 535Q. I think the reason behind this is that it's simple enough, and very versatile.

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

what day of the week is it? Right now I'm probably abusing the univibe the most... otherwise its usually wah & fuzz. Delays are fun but I can live without that. My most favorite possession on the pedal board though, without question is the bypass loop box. Its not really an effect, but it makes it possible for me to use effects.

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

I can't pick just one. I'm a delay and chorus kind of guy. I always have those on for the most part. I like the way they thicken up and fill out my sound.

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

favorite effect is the only one i use, which is WAH.

and my current favorite wah is the Bad Horsie!

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

Definitely my Carl Martin Hot Drive and Boost proto. I changed the clipping section and it's just what I need now for an OD. I can get some quite low gain tones but mostly it excels at mid-gain crunch. It's also got a clean boost, a seperate clean output and a great buffer. I built my rig around it!

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

One? Not really one Im afraid. I nice variety of fuzz and delay I suppose. I have really be LOVING my Skreddy screw driver for the jus breaking and sensitive to pick dynamics. Then there are the Skreddy Lunar Module, and Top Fuel for other variations. I also love my Fuzz Head and Tonefactor Huckleberry. The delays I use most are the DD6 and DD7. The screw driver really has cleared a lot need from my board. I am ready to reorgaize and perhaps put together 2-3 different boards now.

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

Wah......its a tool of expression rather than an effect thats "on" or "off"

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

If I had to choose, I would say digital delay - Boss DD-20, as long as I had good distortion built into the amp already.

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

phaser/vibe

have several phasers and got rid of everything else, even delays. I like to dial up a subtle setting for a little bit of movement and just leave it on. Single-note lines get these little pseudo-blues-curls and chords get a bit of shimmery shazam and playing just becomes really comfy and cozy to me. Guitar -> phaser -> amp. For all kinds of useable sounds this one is my favorite to date. Unique, transparent, full, weird, hard to describe.

ProGuitarShop.com made a great demo vid for it, here: http://www.proguitarshop.com/product.php?ProductID=936&CategoryID=22

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

Right now my favorite is an HBE pedal too - the new model Germania treble booster. The new 3Q switch is killer!

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

So far, it's this cheap little OD. Pretty transparent but it has a high end spike that makes it a bit like a treble booster. The OD is totally sensitive to picking. The Pre-bass control adds or takes away bass before the OD to give you control to make a muddy guitar clear and a bright one fatter.

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

I love Fuzz boxes...my current fav is an NKT 275 Fuzz Face from AnalogMan...why, because it kicks a lot of ass...really, it cleans up COMPLETELY even with buckers just by using the volume control and will give you lots of shades of dirt going from a very slight grunty sound all the way up to full tilt fuzz madness.

That said I did get a fair bit of use out of a Fulltone Ultimate Octave while I was moving and had my Fuzz Faces packed up...nice but still can't knock the Fuzzfaces from the top!

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

for me, it's my plain ol' stock ds-1:D seriously, i can get a nice chunky overdrive out of it with all the controls at 10:00, or allout metal with the tone halfway up and the level dimed/gain 3:00. and all the flavors inbetween are always there since it's such a responsive pedal that reacts well to volume and tone knob changes.

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

I'd have to go with Fuzz. I can get most of my od and distortion needs from my amp but for some out of this World fuzz I need a pedal. I mostly play with dirt so I like a lot of variety in it.

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

OD pedal, if I'm using an amp that requires one. Right now, I have a Maxon OD808 RI, which is decent enough. I've used Boss ODs and Ibanez TS 9s to good effect in the past.

If the amp doesn't require an OD box, I'm straight in. Tried a lot of pedals in the past, none lasted more than a couple of months. The exception is an MXR Phase 90, which I used for a few yrs in the late 80s. That was a sweet pedal. I'd like to try a wah again some day.

Re: Your Favorite Effect pedal

If forced to choose, I'd go with a treble boost. I love the way it fills in the gaps and rounds out the sound of an overdriven amp like a cranked AC30.

My current favorite treble boost is the Keeley Time Machine Boost:
