What's your favorite 50/100 watt Marshall head? Looking mostly for input from Marshall owners or people who have had experience with a few Marshall's anyways.

I have played alot of different Marshalls and just about every one of them does something I like a little better than another model, but I really like the DSL series of amps. They just cover alot of ground and sound good doing it, and the best thing, not overly complicated with tons of knobs, just the ones you need.

So, let's hear it. What's your favorite Marshall?

Re: Your Favorite Marshall

I love and adore pretty much any good old Plexi.

JCM800s are also a amp I would use any day of the week :)

but a real hidden gem as well, is the DSL100. They sound amazing if you crank them hard :)

Re: Your Favorite Marshall

I like a late 70s JMP master volume.

It's the same circuit as an early JCM800. Often cheaper because it's not a JCM800 - and I prefer the late 70s look.

Re: Your Favorite Marshall

I have owned a DSL and a JCM 900. I currently have an 800. I will say the 800 out of those. I have played the VM at GC and liked it but did not get to take it home.

Re: Your Favorite Marshall

There's something about the JCM 800's distorted sound that I really like, but the cleans on my plexi are much better to my ears. I haven't had a chance to play a JTM 45, but I'd love to if the chance ever arises, as they seem to be the favorite of many a marshall connoisseur.

But I likey my 50w plexi, it sounds great with every pedal I put in front of it, and at full bore it sounds like a wall of unchecked aggression and wanton violence:eyecrazy:

Re: Your Favorite Marshall

50 watt JCM 800 ! JMP's are good too.

I tried a vintage modern 100 watt. I personally hated it. JCM 800 was the sound I was looking for, nice distortion, but not at all muddy.

Re: Your Favorite Marshall

I had one particular JCM 800 that was amazing. the JMP Master Volume I had at the same time was unreal too.

If I could go back in time, I would ensure that they never left my ownership.
