The Charvel ones that I have are of exactly the same footprint as the surrounds supplied with Duncan Trembuckers. The one difference is that the Charvels are cut to match the neck pitch angle for a Kahler flamount vibrato.
I suspect that the problem I have is US rings on a Japanese body. The fastening screw holes in the corners do not even remotely line up with the holes in the guitar top.
In the mid-80's - coinciding with the raised logo covered Jackson pickups (commonly known as wide-body) - Charvel/Jackson sourced special pickup rings to accomodate their wider pickups. These have a different footprint, than say, the standard sized rings you get with a Duncan humbucker.
