Best affordable phaser?

MANY EXTRA CONTROLS
The Enterprise packs in every control you could want in a phaser. With SPEED, DEPTH, positive & negative FEEDBACK, and MIX controls, the Enterprise can produce a subtle phase sweep all the way to an over-the- top feedback freakout. Put the MIX control at noon to create greater resonance, or mix in more wet phase signal for a stronger pitch modulation.
2, 3, OR 4 STAGES OF PHASING
What’s the difference between the Phase 90 & Phase 45? The number of phase stages, that’s it. The Enterprise puts this classic circuits on a switch, and then adds a third option. The STAGE switch selects between 2, 3 or 4 phase stages. The 3-stage position is unique in that it also inverts the phase signal relative to the dry signal, creating a different sweep & resonant character.
TWO PHASE MODES
The classic Univibe circuit is actually a phaser circuiit, but its phase stages do not work in perfect sync. The result is a less- focused, warbled phase tone. The P-V switch selects between matched phase stages (P) for a more focus & direct phase sweep, or uneven phase stages (V) for a watery, vibe-style modulation.
VFE PEDALS ENTERPRISE - 4-STAGE PHASER WITH ALL THE EXTRAS
The Enterprise is a compact 4-stage phaser using hand-matched JFETS, decked out with all the
extras. Speed, Depth, Mix, and positive/negative Feedback controls provide a wide arrange of phase tones. Add in the phase/vibe & a 3-way stage toggle switch, and this phaser goes where no compact phaser has gone before!

Man Ace!! that was an informative post! Thanks

Re: Best affordable phaser?

Well, in my acquisition phase when I was buying every fuzz, Phaser and analog delay I could find, three of my crazy ones were the Red Witch Moon Phaser, Modmax Phaser and the piece de resistance, the Prophecysound Infinitphase. The Red Witch sounds better than the standard ones, the Modmax is more versatile and the Prophecysound has a crazier LFO
than a Chase Bliss, and it’s all Analog...

Anybody who uses a Chase Bliss live stagework is a sadomasochist! :lmao: damn thing have WAAAAY too much that can go wrong -such powerful pedals with switches and knobs that don't quit.

great pedals..... but that's one pedal line that doesnt leave the studio for me. not hot glueing down such beautiful works of pedal art.

Thank you. If there is a way to make a simple pedal expensive, someone does it. And it is usually awesome....if also ridiculous.

I so jones for an Enterprise and I never use the phaser I have.

Re: Best affordable phaser?

The PH-3 did a bunch of cool stuff that I never found myself using (step/rise/fall mode phasing). The 8/10/12 stage phasing always sounded too overpowering/thick for what I needed. What I really bought it for the in the first place was to use as a simple 4 stage phaser . . . and it just doesn't sound as good as other pedals for that. Fortunately I could pick up the small stone for well under the used price of the boss.

Re: Best affordable phaser?

No mention of the Whirlwind Orange Box? This one is made by the folks from MXR back in the day. The Orange Box is the original script logo circuit with a LED and DC jack added, and done well before MXR made a script with those features. I've had a few MXR models and comparably, the Orange Box is better sounding, IME/IMO. I snagged one used for $75 some years back. Don't have it anymore as I went on a gear liquidation a year ago but if I was to get another phaser, I would get the Orange Box again.

Re: Best affordable phaser?

The PH-3 in 10-stage (it's best IMO) is indeed thick and lush, especially with high depth settings, but it's also very clear at the same time. $50 used all day.

Re: Best affordable phaser?

I've just stuck a TC Electronic Blood Moon Phaser on my big board. I'll report back what I find!

Re: Best affordable phaser?

The TC Blood Moon is pretty nice sounding and VERY affordable, even new.
