Boss Releasing the CE-2W!

Re: Boss Releasing the CE-2W!

I'd love to see a version of the Dimension C. It was sort of a chorus, but not really.

Re: Boss Releasing the CE-2W!

Dimension C was a floor version of the Dimension D....
More for spatial stuff than chorus....
Has two BBD's for that that extra dimesion in stereo.

Funny how little new there is under the sun effectwise.

Yeah, it certainly wasn't a normal chorus sound, more of an illusion of a spread out stereo space. It sounds sort of like a chorus with no modulation, but the sound seems to be coming from all points in the room. Cool effect.

Re: Boss Releasing the CE-2W!

Waza upgrade is definitely an improvement, anyone who likes anything Boss seems like a win/win.
Dimension C was a pretty cool chorus. Seen that "rack 80s chorus thing" Fulltone has done? Nice.

Re: Boss Releasing the CE-2W!

As someone seeking a good chorus, I take it the CE2 was favorable?? Im guessing so as there is one on fleabay for almost $300. I have a CE5. Meh.. Anyone know how the 2 and 5 differ? I guess also by the reactions that the Waza stuff is not just marketing hype, but actually a step up?

Re: Boss Releasing the CE-2W!

The CE-2 has a sweet midrangy colour to it, and it is not as bright and sterile as the CE-5.
I like the CE-2 best before drive...I know alot use it after dirt...
Think Gilmour chorus.

Re: Boss Releasing the CE-2W!

Don't forget kids - there are ALL sorts of chorus sounds; cool icy chorus, thick syrupy chorus, subtly warbly chorus, multi-voice chorus, and all of the non-chorus chorusses (Vibrato-y chorus, Vibey chorus, Flangey chorus, Phasey chorus etc….)

There is a time and a place for all of them!

As much as the Waza pedals I played were cool (all two of them), My Mooer CE-2 will do me just fine. However - I do get why a waza CE-2 would be a cool pedal….

I like all things 80s. delay, chorus. Gilmours tone is awesome too.
Ive been trying to think what my chorus is missing.. sterile is the right term.. Wonder if there is an easy mod to change it to a 2? makes me wonder why these companies take something that is very well loved and mod is to rubbish??? I mean if you want to offer variety, make a diff model, but keep what is great in the lineup..

Re: Boss Releasing the CE-2W!

I've thought about this and I'll have to take a look. I have a CE-3 on my board now. I have a Hardwire Chorus to try, which should be interesting, as I used a DOD FX65 for many years. The Boss pedals have their sound, but I really like the DOD Chours effect. We'll see how the Digitech stacks up.

A couple of friends have the BBE Mind Bender. I haven't tried it, but they like it better than the newer Boss pedals.

Probably the same reason we do.

IME, the delay setting is what it is all about. If you have a delay control, which is 'set' in most chorusses, you can get most any chorus sound.

I'm not aware of a mod for the CE-5, but it isn't too difficult to turn a CE-3 into a CE-2. Another thing to keep in mind is that ~$300 for an original CE-2 is a total ripoff unless it's the long dash, silver screw version in MINT condition with the original box and paperwork. I have one of those CE-2s in player condition (rough but not too bad and sounds AMAZING) and they go for around $150. If you want to spend less, you can get a Taiwan CE-2 for $80-100 and they probably sound 80-90% as good as mine. I've also heard that a MIT CE-2 can be made to sound identical to the MIJ version by tweaking the internal trim pot. I did own a MIT CE-2 for a while, but I never tried that.

Since the CE-2 uses similar BBDs to the DM-2, I'd expect the new Waza pedal to be $250+.

Re: Boss Releasing the CE-2W!

Looks like 2 bills street price.

I desperately want a ce1 /jc type chorus. But I will probably wait for these to show up used.
